Today in peculiar dining news: A popular Italian restaurant in Arlington Center has been "abandoned" and the owner has left the country, although the place is apparently operational nonetheless. Boston Restaurant Talk reports via the Arlington Advocate that Scugnizzi, once a very respectable spot for lamb ragu and margherita pizza, might be shuttered by the town because the owners haven't paid rent in several months. The Advocate reports that owner Francesco Martini has moved to Mexico and that the restaurant has been operating without a license. Town selectmen will meet this evening to determine the neighborhood restaurant's fate, which could mean a permanent shutdown.
