Well, this place will either make you feel horrible about your Allston-induced hangover or help you recover even quicker. Root, a plant-based restaurant and juicery, launches today in the old Peace o' Pie space at 487 Cambridge St. They specialize in quirky veggie dishes, unusual juice combos, and somewhat sinful brunch items like donut bites and fudge pancakes — plus a few tofu-propelled plates, naturally.

Eater has some soothing photos of the space and a takeout menu. Their offerings are few but virtuous: five sandwiches (plus a build-your-own option), five different juices (beet, kale, carrot), and two vaguely decadent apps (sweet corn-jalapeno hush puppies and herbed "rustic cut" fries). There's also George Howell coffee, a true sign of a thoughtful menu. What do you think? Will the plant-based concept take root in Allston? If nothing else, we predict very busy Sunday afternoons.
