The venerable Lowell Folk Festival happens this weekend. It always draws crowds to downtown Lowell for arts, crafts, and music — but it's also a great way to enjoy the city's diverse food scene.

They'll have food demos throughout the weekend, featuring treats from across the globe: chrusciki (Polish crullers), loukamathes (Greek honey fritters), and malassadas (Portuguese fried dough), to name a few. There are also tons of ethnic food stalls sponsored by the city's many community organizations. Here's your chance to sample home-cooked cuisine from Libera, Burma, Jamaica, Armenia ... and, yes, they'll even have classic American carnival treats, too. Plan your itinerary and strategize your snacking here.
