The Needham restaurant scene has lost a good one, even as it gained a good one. Tu Y Yo, the second outpost of the Mexican restaurant in Somerville, has closed. It's a blow to Needham's downtown dining scene, as Tu Y Yo was good grub and popular with families (what kid doesn't like rice and beans?). One of the owners, Epigemenio Guzman, told the Globe it closed for the obvious reason. He needed more diners. "We struggled a lot," he said. "The restaurant was a big space."

The closing of Tu Y Yo comes as Needham's diners are enjoying their newest restaurant, The Farmhouse, which seems to be crowded many nights, and another restaurant, 3 Squares, prepares to open in the old Bickford's location on Highland Avenue.
