After 15 years, Financial District’s Radius to close
Long a fixture in Boston’s fine dining scene, renowned local chef Michael Schlow has announced plans to close the Financial District restaurant Radius on June 29.
Schlow, the man behind Via Matta, Tico, Alta Strada, and Barrio Cantina, and will open a different restaurant in another location, but with the same team. This new eatery will have a more casual feel than Radius had. Schlow told the Globe that fine dining has been struggling because it “has the connotation of a) it’s going to be expensive, and b) you’re going to be there for a really long time.”
This isn’t the first time Schlow is completely replacing one of his restaurants for another. Earlier this year, he closed Happy’s Bar & Kitchen, which served contemporary American fare, and opened Barrio Cantina, which (obviously) serves Mexican cuisine.
