Christmas 2010 - your photos

A few weeks ago, I invited you, the readers of The Big Picture, to submit your own images of Christmas 2010. It was another experiment, I was hoping for high quality, personal images and was not disappointed once again. Several hundred submissions came in from around the world, and I thank every one of you for participating. Looking back on the Christmas season one last time, I present the following collection of reader-submitted photographs - and invite you to see Christmas through their eyes. Captions written by the photographers. (42 photos total)

Sweet Christmas Tree made from Honey Cake, which are prepared one month before Christmas. Typical for Slovak Christmas. (© Matus Vencurik)

Reminds me that our differences are small, our similarities great regardless of wealth, location or even religion. We take great joy in celebration.

Совпадение или нет? Фотографии о рождестве у католиков и протестантов опубликовали на православное рождество. С Рождеством Господнем!

It's very interesting. Today is Orthodox Christians Christmas. Merry Christmas!

#3 is actually surface hoar, not snowflakes. Ice crystals grow on clear, cold nights, and can contribute to avalanche danger when new snow falls on top of it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frost#Radiation_frost

Great photography and comment. ............. So much water, one wonders why it isn't put through tunnels to fill the usually dry inland rivers. ........ Probably because politicians vision is only as far as the next election. .......... Tunnels are dug for cars and trains to go through, so why not precious water.

#36 made me teary. It shows the woman's heart toward Him who came so that we may have joy, peace and love. When we pray we are all the same-great or small, black or white, brown or yellow, rich or poor. We are all the same in His eyes.

Wondewful. Sincere Thank . It is a great idea .
I am writing from Ramallah in the heart of Occupied Palestine.
Next year I will bring you pictures of brave mothers and teachers behind the most marvellous Christmas celebrations both spiritual and materia .Occupation ,deprivation and lack of ordinary freedom of movement does not deter them. The Franciscan Friars who have custody of the Christian Hoy Places too in Bethlehem celebrate with renewed joy each year Think of these brave people !!
