2010 Tour de France - part II
The 2010 Tour de France cycling race is now over, with Spain's Alberto Contador claiming his third win in Paris yesterday. Andy Schleck of Luxembourg finished 39 seconds back, and seven-time tour winner Lance Armstrong finished 23rd in his final Tour de France. This 97th running of the iconic race started in Rotterdam with 198 riders in 22 teams of nine, and finished yesterday, 3,642 km (2,263 mi) later in Paris, France on the Champs-Elysees. Collected here are a handful of images from the second half of the race - see part I for earlier photos. (41 photos total)

I want to see blood!
Nice work Thanks for sharing
One commonality among the bicyclists - they are all super fit and slim. Bravo!
great photos!
Que paisagens lindas... Eis o verdadeiro sentido do esporte: o prazer de competir em irmandade!
I am spanish... what do you want me to win?? hahaha VIVA ESPAÑA!!!
YES YES YES! Thank you! Was hoping Le Tour would be today's update. Awesome work
Great photos!
wow!!
maravillosas, interesante la #24
un saludos,
great photos! omg the little dogs in # 24 think they're part of the match!!! no little doggies you're not part of the french tour!!! and people please don't confuse this with the french open, lol. people always confuse the french open with the tour of france. one is a bike thing and the other is a tennis. one is a sport and the other is a different kind of sport where there is no defense part to it. anyway, great pics and viva la radio shack!!!
I don't like the sport, but the pictures are stunning!
#8 Vino!!!!
Eeeeeh, Astana! Vinokurov is the greatest for me! Amazing photos!
Great pictures. Thanks !!
Some nice views there, spoiled by some cycling drugstores tho.. can't someone get them into a consumption room so they don't have to do it in public?!
@John: those animals you might have observed in photograph #24 are called (indeed in a limited part of the world) SHEEP.
wow,,,, what a beautiful photos
Great pictures! Thank you very much.

Armstrong without the drugs...is just another rider in the tour
Bela pic (S )! = Dxx
* beleza impressionante !
I must say I'm quite proud to be French when I see the landscapes we have here.
Did Paul the Octopus predict Contadore's win?
All Glory to His Tentacled Omniscience!
ANDY SCHLECK IS THE REAL WINNER!
Great !
@Dogsaren'tSheeps lol i can't believe i thought that was a dog! now that i look at it closer you are most probably right. BUT, how do you explain the blue dots? maybe they are witches?
Also, maybe you can help me find out what is in the man's hands in the 28? i thought it was a javelin but it looks to be all wood and he has on almost no armor. so then i say maybe it's a pool stick, but why? so then i just say i don't know and that i hope it doesn't jab that pony.
Very very beatifull!!!!!!!!!!
Très belles photos !
Photo 30 : yet again the caption writers get it wrong. Mark Cavendish is NOT ENGLISH, he is Manx - from the Isle of Man. This is a small island, it is NOT part of England, nor is it part of the United Kingdom, it has it's own Parliament, legal system and currency (that happens to have parity with UK Sterling).
STOP CALLING CAVENDISH ENGLISH!!
why no photograph of Mark Cavendish winning in spectacular fashion in Paris? :(
other than that, amazing photos! :) very nice!
Amazing Pictures
ben - the isle of man relies on the UK military for its defense.
It is not technically part of the UK, but the UK effectively controls it.
the isle of man is cute, but doesn't have any real sovereign power.
it also uses the British Pound as currency.
in light of the above facts, it's not that big of a deal.
Best photos of Le Tour anywhere.
thanks for those picture of France
so beautiful
Not really a fan of the Tour De France, but once again stunning photos. Im in Paris at the moment and was in the Champs Elysee when the cyclists were riding in the their teams having the photos. But i got bored and went to watch Toy Story 3 instead! Good movie if i do say so myself.
Jorge: I am spanish... what do you want me to win?? hahaha VIVA ESPAÑA!!!
Good year for Spain, pal. No doubt about it. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Great pictures as always, BP.
Spectacular photos! I know how challenging it is too take great photos of bike racing.
Re: #28 Thanks (really!) for clearing that up about Mark Cavendish! I became a big fan watching him blast from seemingly out of nowhere to win 5 stages. Incredibly impressive. Fantastic rider. His emotional appearance on the podium was one of the highlights of The Tour.
Fuerza Contador!!!!
y Animo Samuel el proximo tour tiene un escalon del podio reservado para ti
#37 is the definition of PRO
Great photos of a great race!
I wonder how did you get these nices pics with high resolution and without watermark?
Great Photos! Thanks!!
Thank you for these wonderful photos!
These are great athletes--so great that there's bound to be suspicion of doping. Eat it, naysayers!
A group of us has vacationed together during Le Tour for the past several years, and the live morning coverage inspires us on our mountain rides later after the day's stage has finished.
Thank you again, Big Picture!
I don't understand why he is "Spain"?
(Because Astana is Kazakhstan city, and his wear has colors of Kazakhstan, and logo if Kazakhstan country).
Hmm
Greate pictures.
2010 Spain's year. World cup (football),tennis, and the last
Tour de France
Great, great pictures. A superb mix of action and landscapes.
By the way, as well as Cav' being Manx (not English), the "coach" in picture 30 is Erik Zabel, one of the all-time great sprinters and one of the greatest ever German cyclists. He won the Green jersey six times and took 12 stage victories in the tour.
Cav' has already won 15 stages of the Tour. He will already be remembered as possibly the best pure sprinter ever - and he is still young.
PS As the Isle of Man is a Crown Protectorate, you can call him British if you prefer.
Brilliant!
Thank you for all the wonderful photos...
Grazie
LA fotografia di TIRALONGO è bellissima. Sono chi lo ha portato al ciclismo e quella foto con l'acqua cristallizzata in quel momento del bere alla borraccia è incantevole. Complimenti.
Much better than the first series, however I hate #20
Images are fascinating.. France must be a very beautiful country.. People are lively.. I wait for new updates on this best picture-site on the web.. GREAT effort. Please do some work on my ancient beautiful culture of India.

Just as well you are anonymous, or you'd be sued for libel. Pity you can't also be sued just for being full of sh*t. Where is your evidence? Nowhere, because there isn't any. I suspect you're French.
I love Le Tour. My only argument with it is with the Green Jersey - they need to chaneg teh way that is done - there is no doubt that Mark Cavendish is the best sprinter int eh world - by far - and that jersey should be his by rights.
Thanks so much for the fantastic coverage - I dont even recall seeing the sunflowers - should just have had more photos of Lance Armstrong - I am one of his greatest admirers
Beautiful Photos of a wonderful Tour. Thankyou!
Horsebyke-our future, isn't it?
great sports and professional pics.........thanks
@10 (John): funny, the man who tries to teach something is caught himself :)
@25 (John): the dots are used for the shepperds to recognize their herds. The javelin as you called it is a lance, to remember the old times (knignts, spears, etc.)
awesome up to no end love it all
Des photos vraiment magnifique, merci beaucoup de nous en faire profiter !
Impresionantes imégenes deportivas, creo que de las mejores en este estilo que he visto en mucho tiempo.
¡¡maravillosas!!
Great photos, thanks for posting. Reading the comments about doping, why so bitter? (Simone)...and (Anonymous) there is a consistency of optimal ages for endurance athletes, something Lance is well past. What goes on iside the pro peleton is likely pretty consitent among riders/teams. Let the sport governing body deal with it. Meanwhile the TDF is a spectacular event!, 100 years ago, today, and probably 100 years into the future.
Wow, these are amazing photos! They really make you feel like you're part of the race.
Belíssimas fotos!!!! Parabéns
AWESOME pics!
Chéverísimas las fotos! ... (aunque faltó una de Lance)
very nice, I love it
I am happy for Spain!
Tennis, World Cup, and Tour de France.
Way to go!
I am happy for Spain!
Tennis, World Cup, and Tour de France.
Way to go!
Oh, and for these most amazing photographs, THANK YOU!
wow!
amazing!
Not a single picture of the "28" jersey. How about a team shot with all the jerseys on the podium?
Outstanding pictures. Especially #38. I am sure the symbolism of Lance looking back at his last Tour is lost on very few. Regardless of how you feel about him as an individual, his contribution to the tour - overall wins, continuous battle regarding the doping controversy, comeback from cancer and his return from retirement - put him in that pantheon reserved for great athletes. Just like Diego Maradona, you don't have to like him to appreciate his contribution to his sport.
Beautiful photos, but not enough mountains...
lol @ 20
Beautiful scenery, great riders, excellent coverage, one of the best Tours i have watched so far! Kudos to everyone!
Great Pics!! Would have loved to have been there!!!
The animals in No. 24 are mountain goats, not sheep
hilarious hilarious, overseas moon always brighter

Pantani per sempre nei nostri cuori
What an amazing collection

Commenter #28 has issues! I'm Scottish but also British and also a Cavendish fan.
Andy Schleck will win next year!
Fantastic pics; a brief reminder of the highlights of TdeF 2010.

Should help you ;)
What Grate Phots, Thank you very much!!
why sport pictures are always over saturated?
at phil post 52:The federal investigation will prove that Armstrong was doping during almost all his career, if they want evidence, is no problem, ells are available in anti-doping laboratory, requires that the commission of inquiry so requests
I love these pics!
Dear David, I can't understand why you don't recognise a sheep. Unless you are making a joke. He ha.
As for those who think Armstrong did not dope check out the steroids he used for 'saddle sores' and later got a post dated certificate of exemption for. Or the epo found in his bloods taken before there were tests, but saved by the lab. You must have heard about this stuff. He has never been busted, but he has tested positive at least twice and maybe a third time in the Tour of Switzerland (covered up). I am sure you must have heard about this stuff.
No doubt he is the biggest global media personality in cycling. But also not the finest character model.
GREAT RACE
THANKS A MILLION FOR SHARING THE PHOTOS
"My only argument with it is with the Green Jersey - they need to chaneg teh way that is done - there is no doubt that Mark Cavendish is the best sprinter int eh world"
It's a shame, though, that green jersey isn't made for the best sprinter.
Those photos are best I've seen.... AWESOME!!! Chapeaux
Excellent job for the photographers!!!!!!!!!
All of them are brilliant!
Cool !!!!!!!
@52 (Phil): The Green Jersey is a points competition for the most consistent rider. It is not an "end-of-the-stage-sprint" competition. Cavendish wins the stage but is definitely not the most consistent rider on the course. I think there should be more points awarded for the "sprint" points spread throughout the course, and less awarded for the stage win. This would really show which rider is most consistently at the front... which is what the Green Jersey is all about.
What equipment did you used? Specially, What lens?
Amazing photos!!!
WOW !
Thank you
Here Ye, Here Ye,
I thusly denounce the participants of this sport to be cheating scallywags of the highest order and will state that the sport, if it can still be called a sport, as a whole is circumspect to the point of being a sham, a production, a false endeavor or interest. Further, I pronounce it quite comical that the French have turned a beautiful tournament of champions into something resembling more the WWE [formerly WWF], a scripted "sport," than a true contest that makes proud the hearts of men.
For Lance Armstrong, undoubtedly the face of the sport and it's most respected and singularly performance enhancing drug free participant, to have the walls of what was once a dignified sport collapse around him is quite the shame.
Alas, I'll never stop watcing, such is my character: looking for hope under every rock, dignity in every shadow, and justice atop every hill.
I yearn for the cycling days of yore.
Amazing photos for sure, the best i ever seen........
The cycling event became all the more inspiring with these outstanding pictures indeed! Thanks for the postings.
excellent pics...
Belíssimas fotos! Parabéns pra equipe, especialmente, os fotógrafos que fizeram um show de imagens fantásticas. // Beautiful photos! Congratulations to the team, especially the photographers who made a show of fantastic images.
Incredible photos. Grand champion Alberto Contador. After having a cerebral aneurysmnow has won three Tours de France, a Giro d'Italia and the Tour of Spain. It is the best. Come on Spain!
some of the best photos i have seen of the tour de france 2010..thank you so much for posting them
I noticed the nasty comment about Lance Armstrong was posted by anonymous. What is the matter, Anonymous? Do you not have the guts to sign your name.
Awesome memoirs - oh those sun flower shots - Great !
I loved them all but my favorite #6, with those enormous trees, and of course the one with the "dogs" - uh sheep.
