Earth From Above comes to NYC

Photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand will bring his work back to the United States - to New York City for the first time in 2010. Aiming to inspire people to think globally about sustainable living, Arthus-Bertrand has been photographing unique views of our planet, seen from the sky, since 1994 - and has produced an exhibit of over 150 4-ft. by 6-ft. prints which will be on display in New York City at the World Financial Center Plaza and along the Battery Park City Esplanade from May 1, 2009 to June 28, 2009, Spring Spring of 2010. When completed in New York City, the Earth From Above exhibit will also move on to California in 2010. Photographs and captions all courtesy of Yann Arthus-Bertrand. [Update 10.08.2008: At the request of the coordinator of Yann Arthus-Bertrand's upcoming exhibit, the number of photographs displayed here has been reduced to ten - Alan Taylor.] (38 10 photos total)

I'm amazed that these photographs are only making it to the US now. They have been used in primary schools in Europe for a few years, to show them what is worth preserving. Enjoy the exhibitions when they come your way!

Just to clarify - This exhibit is the NYC Debut of a US tour. The exhibit has been to the US once prior, to Chicago in 2002, apologies for the error.

Yann Arthus-Bertrand sold his helicopter a few years ago, saying he had enough of this gas-glutton machine.
He is now making a terrific serie of documentaries about people fighting for ecology at their own scale, and every ressources used for the making of the show is carbon-compensated, by helping sustanable developpement projects.

He is a bit our french Al Gore, and even if he his sometimes a bit preachy, he's making a truly amazing work. I wish everybody could see his recent work, this is so much better than Discovery channel short attention span documento-entertaino-crap.

The caption about depleted uranium isn't entirely accurate. Depleted Uranium is dangerous as a chemical agent, not a radioactive agent. It doesn't cause radiation poisoning, but if ingested as it forms a dust (via disintegration or if it catches fire) it can cause issues more in line with other chemical poisons.

Regarding 13 and depleted uranium. Take just one inexcusable crime like spread of DU dust by the U.S. and one feels outrage. Add them all up over the past 50 years and you stop being able to feel anything...

Regarding Peter and depleted Uranium, the caption doesn't state the mechanism of poisoning is radioactive. Secondly, depleted uranium (U-238) is in fact radioactive, it is an alpha emitter, and while that radiation isn't often a threat to people standing near it (as your clothing or skin will usually block it) if you've inhaled the dust, you've got radioactive particles being emitted from inside your lungs, and it's not a big leap to think that's probably bad for you.

The caption wasn't misleading, in my opinion. The sad truth is there hasn't been enough studies of the medical effects of DU, because the weapons business is the world's largest business.

"but could've made do without the global warmism editorials"

From the top of the page:

"Photographs and captions all courtesy of Yann Arthus-Bertrand."

So, no, there is no global warmism *editorials*. And if you're against environmental activism, then don't bother with the exhibition because, as it's made clear, again, at the top of the page, that's what all these photos are about.

Personally, I can't wait to see it myself in NYC next year. I'll definitely take a drive down there.

Hi Yan, Terrific Photos. I think with such an important exhibition coming up showing potentially huge numbers of people these photos and captions and wanting to gain the hearts and minds of poeple to preserve our wonderfull planet it's worth ensuring the accuracy of information presented in captions. I noticed something you may like to correct, just the figure of 66 million cubic feet mentioned in photo 23 actualy equates to 1.87 million cubic metres (not 18 million cubic metres) as there are 35.31 cubic feet in a cubic meter. Re photo 27. I wonder how so many Egyptians died, if at the same time, chasing Isrealites??

These are some of the best pics i ever saw ! We humans need to respect mother nature and try to live with it, instead of ravaging for his selfish needs. If we give respect, nature will respect us !!

you have a delicate way of illustrating the natural beauty of our planet, and the affect we have on it, without coming accross as condescending.

We have to do wherever is in our power to help preserved such beauty. As "guardia ambiental" I bealive in taking care of our planet, don't let it die.

Como "guardia ambiental", creo fuertemente en el cuidado de nuestro planeta. Estas fotografías, nos dan una prueba de lo mucho que podemos perder, o mejor dicho, que estamos perdiendo, no lo permitamos!

Nearly every photo carries the same message: Beauty, yes! Awesome beauty! And all of it at risk from our increasing numbers. Shall all of it perish before we learn to curb our appetites--and our numbers? Pray we realize 'EXCESS OF EVERYTHING' will be our undoing, and that of so much Beauty!

Thank you for sharing these mesmerizing images. It makes you wonder about the state of our planet and how far we will go to destroy it. So easy it is for man to keep taking from the earth and not think about giving back. When I see these images, I think how lucky we are to have such an amazing planet. Why do not our leaders of the world not see this, and want to change how we structure our priorities. The tanks, remind me of the current war and how much poisons and rubbish we leave behind, a reminder hardly ever seen. Yann Arthus-Bertand's photos bring the closeness of beauty and the harshness of human kind together. Please bring your show to Seattle, we welcome it. It is needed in these uncertain times.

A really nice view of our Earth from the camera point of view, it makes you wonder how beautiful is our Earth and why we do such things to degrade its beauty. A BIG QUESTION for all involved in Earth destruction, as we can see in some of these photos (photo nr. 13, 23, 25, 33 and also 35). Shame that we destroy this wonderful environment, and pity that we are too small to do something in its protection!

The pictures are fabulous! The commentary, however, is political, emphasizing 'green' conclusions and conservation objectives. As a bynote, the Iraqi tank 'graveyard' pictured is not radioactive, and no radioactive dust cloud is or was ever observed. I was there, measuring those factors.

By turns stirring and infuriating, this collection strikes a diplomatic balance between pristine beauty and unfolding ecocide. What's really heartbreaking, though, is that so many previous commenters seem unable to account for the natural beauty on display here without attributing it to their civilized conception of God. The kind of god that the same people who are destroying this planet in their hubris could see fit to worship could never have created something so varied or so largely inhospitable to His supposed favorite species. Or are these people seeing the beauty of their own handiwork in the pictures of desecration? That would explain their catching God's reflection in it.

I don't understand all of you who keep saying that we are destroying the earth and blablabla, what we do has little to no impact whatsoever, and even if we did it would just be incredibly selfish to think it's destroying the earth. The earth will be here long after the human race dies out somehow.
The real destroyer of the earth will be the sun once it burns up and expands to destroy everything around it.
And the pictures are indeed nice, but let's not make them bigger than they really are. :)

Stunning images. I do however reject the comment on the tank graveyard; there were never a million depleted uranium shells fired during the war. The alpha particles of depleted uranium can be stopped by a piece of paper. The danger from the dust they produce in a battle ground is if it gets into the body, as in windblown dust. The radioactivity of depleted uranium is approximately 60% the radioactivity of natrual uranium.

Come for the photos, stay for the religious bollocks. Lovely photos too, and I'd have love to have been the photographer, but alas all I can do this evening is sit at my PC and appreciate the skill and effort of others. People that is.

First time I've seen the term 'godspam' on the tubes but it's very appropriate. How many people, so indoctrinated into the Cult of the Dead God that their self-identity has been completely swallowed, feel the need so badly to godspam completely non-religious posts and threads just to see their names in print?

If you're going to bring your god into this then don't forget to attribute all the rape, torture, murder, genocide, disease and all forms suffering in the world to your god as well.

I never understand how people give all the good stuff to god and not hold him accountable for everything else as well.

At least Darwin had evidence.

Or otherwise use the brain that evolution gave you to think for yourself and appreciate the pictures for what the are - snapshots of a steadily disappearing time.

nice pics but leave off the slanted commentary. 1,000,000 DU rounds fired during the first gulf is bulls**t . also DU is not radioactive hence the name depleated. du is also not a known major cancer cause, it is toxic if injested just like lead or other heavy metals.

Religion is a silly bias to bring into such objective beauty. Spiritually moving, yes, biblically affirming? Well, you can use any evidence in the right context to validate your belief. Leave beauty alone; to let it be caged by religion is to sanitize its unbiased potency.

"after anyone seeing these how could they not believe in the Creation by God"

Well, they might reason like this: 'creation' is a story, in a book written by some long-dead men. Why should I trust them? Did they even claim to be writing down facts?

Here are some facts:
Just because something is complex, doesn't mean it was made.
Just because a thing is huge, doesn't mean it was made by a huge white-bearded deep-voiced person.
And just because you grew up with parents watching over you, doesn't mean a giant invisible proxy-parent is still doing so.

And here's another fact: Christian and post-Christian nations are the ones most responsible for destroying what we see in these photos.

So please don't use science images as Christian propaganda.

So what about all the ugly parts of the world? Is there less god in them? Did god slack off on the ugly parts and figure "eh, nobody will notice"

I can kick your god's ass, and until he proves otherwise my word stands.

Pollution and urbanization are by definition the product of people. More people equals more pollution and urbanization. You cannot correct these problems without reducing breeding, Period.

These are truly amazing pictures. Only God can take the credit for creating our planet for us. He gave us beauty for our eyes to behold. He gave us water air and fruits and vegetables to sustain us. He also gave us each other for companionship and for help in time of need. When we make choices to destroy our neighbors we not only destroy them we destroy ourselves. There are always consequences for the good and bad things we do to each other and to our planet. As God created the world for all of us only God can save us from destroying our planet and each other. Give thanks to God for the beauty and Pray for His help.

glen teen: Depleted Uranium doesn't mean it isn't radioactive (it is, as there aren't non-RA isotopes of U), it means it has been used up in processes, and is not useful anymore (mostly other elements, won't sustain a reaction, etc.)

It is harmful, and will cause cancer if dust is breathed in or if somehow ingested (just like any other RA isotope). It *may* not be dangerous if external, but internalized where the radiation can wreak havoc with live cells (alpha and beta can't penetrate enough through skin to be problamatic outside the body) and you can cause genetic damage and cancer.

"And here's another fact: Christian and post-Christian nations are the ones most responsible for destroying what we see in these photos."
All the religions are interconnected. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam have common prophets. In all religions there were problems. Even Pre-Christian civilizations or religions, like Mayans had issues. Great civilizations are not destroyed from outside, but from within. It's starts with family values.
I think religion is just a pretext for fight. Most people who use religion for their actions, they don't do it in the name of God, but only to have an excuse. And besides, religion is just a human interpretation of life and God, it's not the goal, only a mean

Really, these pictures deepen your view of God..... It amazes me to think that people can not except the fact that it is quite likely that NOTHING exists after death. Nothing but everlasting silence. To believe that you, we, are some kind of exceptional beings whom deserve an after life, well, that is ignorance at it's best! Humans kill each other for religious beliefs, how much worse could ones hypocritical belief possibly be? If anyone does not deserve a heaven or a hell, it's humans!

It's sad to be reminded that people think we're killing the earth... We're not killing the earth; the earth will be around for millions of years after we're gone. We're only killing ourselves and the animals that require environments similar to our own. We will be a momentary blip compared to any other species that has reigned and fallen on this planet. We're arrogant and stupid. And religious blather only makes us appear stupider.

Those who love Nature and its Creator, and share it through pictures, are wonderful people who use their talents productively. On the other hand, those who criticize and destroy that which is good, do so only because of self hate which they project outside of themselves. How sad that such people cannot appreciate and celebrate the good that others do. Such people are destroyers of the physical and visual good, and use "science" as an excuse. "Science" is only one of many areas of human existence, as there are many layers to life itself. Beautiful Nature here much appreciated. Thank you.

Too bad the few atheist wannabees commenting here know so little about God and religion. Do not condemn out of ignorance. Many very serious scientist are great believers, saying that it is precisely their work that has brought them to God. If we all followed the two most important commandments (to love God and to love our fellow man) things would be much better here on Earth which the Bible commands us to take care of. Just think about it. The rest of us will pray for all of us. Thank you for the beautiful photographs. let us appreciate and respect this man's work and buy the book.

With scrap metal prices so high recently, those tanks at Al Jahrah, Kuwait should be recycled into new steel. Where some see only waste and destruction, I can see opportunity. The radiation from the depleted uranium ammunition is no worse than that found in some natural mines and can be handled with conventional technology that miners already use.

Some really stupid comments about some God being responsible for all this.

Nature (from the word natural) is fantastic. I enjoyed looking at the pictures and how I wish to visit some of the places on earth that I have not seen.

The most beautiful places are those not spoilt by mankind but we must recognise that mankind is having a direct impact in some of these places (Desert, jungle and the ice caps)

Which god is that ?? the one the bible discribes ?? or are you talking abbout the driving force behind the univers that makes things happends and is not personificated ?? Hi (Assalaam-u-Alaikum)! These images depict the fact that this Universe is craeated by one Creator (Allah). The beauty of its creation is countless. He just created all this for Humans but we are not paying gratitude to Him as was told by His messengers. The last & final messenger Muhammad (P.B.U.H) told us the complete way of being an ideal Human to be beneficial to ourselves & others. We should praise our Creator all the time for His blessings on us.

Anent the religions comments...don't be ridiculous. This planet is just one of a myriad balls of rock spinning throughout the universes. We have no idea if, or how many, others support life and the human arrogance that thinks all this beauty was created for us, alone, is the apex of hubris.

We're hard at work destroying the only home we have and we then get all teary-eyed at the beauty of what is left. We need to stop relying on a fairy tale to rescue us from our own destructiveness and realize that the only ones to save this beauty are the ones that look out from our mirrors.

Yes the world is truly a beautiful place. The pictures show nature has a balance which constantly works to replace and perpetuate. All the animals in the world have their place in the balance of nature, as do the beautiful terrains changing season to season, decade to decade.
The only disappointment to all of this wonderful synchronicity is the human race. Who because they follow only material and money will continue to destroy until there is very little left. Let us pray for Peace on Earth and Good Will to All Living Things, before it's too late.

Only the photos where there is no human contamination or presence are beautiful, the photos corrupted by the human presence are horrible, shows how harmful we are to the planet, this world is not for mankind is for every living creature. This photos remind us that not everything is lost, and that we have to stop thinking in ourselves and take care of what is left, to start to reduce our population. Nature create us and we are destroying it.

Debemos comenzar a reducir nuestra población. La naturaleza nos ha creado y la estamos destruyendo.

The earth is a beautiful place, some of that beauty is man made.
If you want to think a god has anything to do with it, that is your affair. Don't try to force your opinions on others. Religion delayed the development of this civilisation with blood shed and torture. Lets get on with our lives in peace.

Beauty, like truth and goodness, is both personal and moral. The universe can only be beautiful (and good) if it was created by one who is both. If the universe is simply the product of random chance and our existence is accidental, then we must stop complaining about its abuse and destruction—we have no moral obligation to protect something with no intrinsic and eternal value. I am not an arguing for or against Theism, just asking for consistency. Those of you who believe the universe is created by an all-powerful person have a moral obligation to preserve and protect it. Those of you who believe the universe is the product of chance have no moral obligation to preserve and protect anything, let alone demand that others follow such inconsistent behavior.

The beauty of these pictures are mostly the ones of nature, untainted by man.
The one I found repulsive of course was the tanks. These pictures do speak volumes of the beauty of nature. Now if you can imagine it, way back when, before the industrial revolution, you get a sense of it, undefiled and in its purest form.
What we see of the beauty in nature today is so far from what it used to be I'm sure. Even in this little glimps we see today is fascinating.

Think about it, it is amazing how perfectly ordered the Universe is and that it doesn't fall out of place or break the order. It is the most precise mechanism that one can fathom and can never be repeated by any stretch of the imagination (Hadron Collider). Some of the most brilliant minds in the world cannot duplicate this, though they can try. What boggles the mind is that some believe that this is all random chance and that life came forth from nothingness. Even the Hadron Collider took much skill and development, it to has a creator. Can you imagine an explosion and wow we have a collider, think it through.

We have been given a gift not only of life, but also the beauty of the vast expanse of the Uni(one)Verse(Voice). We find the beauty of nature and how it gives such pleasure to our senses. It was made for us, to sustain us perfectly. When we treat our earth as a gift from God, treat our very life as a gift from God, we should become thankful and appreciate what we have and not abuse it. But we should not worship the earth (Gaia) either.
Gaia |ˈgīə|
1 (also Gaea, Ge) Greek Mythology the Earth personified as a goddess, daughter of Chaos. She was the mother and wife of Uranus (Heaven); their offspring included the Titans and the Cyclopes. [ORIGIN: Greek, ‘Earth.’ ]

1 Praise the LORD!
Praise the LORD, O my soul!
2 While I live I will praise the LORD;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
3 Do not put your trust in princes,
Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help.
4 His spirit departs, he returns to his earth;
In that very day his plans perish.
5 Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help,
Whose hope is in the LORD his God,
6 Who made heaven and earth,
The sea, and all that is in them;
Who keeps truth forever,
7 Who executes justice for the oppressed,
Who gives food to the hungry.
The LORD gives freedom to the prisoners.
8 The LORD opens the eyes of the blind;
The LORD raises those who are bowed down;
The LORD loves the righteous.
9 The LORD watches over the strangers;
He relieves the fatherless and widow;
But the way of the wicked He turns upside down.
10 The LORD shall reign forever—
Your God, O Zion, to all generations.

Praise the LORD!

BEAUTIFUL!!! all of it!!! It makes you think of how we are "just dust in the wind"..
in short,we are ALL ONLY HERE FOR A BRIEF TIME AND ENJOY YOUR TIME AND TAKE CARE OF WHAT WE ALL HAVE IN LIFE!!!!and treat others as you would treat yourself!!!!..IF YOU DON'T think that another "Being" did all of this world then you need to reevaluate yourself!!!..YES,YES YES,There is a GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting that the poster of these pictures noted on the Itaqi tank graveyard did not mention the horrible fascist regime who killed many and tortured more and then set the oil fields afire, but OF COURSE, as usual,blames it on the United States, who continues to be the most giving and benevolent country in the history of mankind, AND then ignores the fact that the water-borne village in Thailand that is pictured dumps all its sewage and waste into the bay ,,,, every day!

So many people has been killed i the name of God. I don´t understand how anyone can allow a belief, or a person, or an organisation to take up so much space and time of a persons life that you miss out of all other wonderful things around you. There are so many people who spend their life claiming things in the name of their God that they forget the beautiful world around them (as shown on theese pictures). I accept every man to be whoever he wants to be. I accept that everyone are allowed to belive whatever they want. The problem is that there are so many people who doesnt accept theese things. It´s their way or the highway.
Take care everyone and a lots of cred for the wonderful pictures.

Awesome photos. Unfortunately in the US we have a class of citizens who go into "outrage" mode at the slightest provocation. I did not interpret the tank graveyard photo as criticism of the US, it is just a neutral comment. There was no mention of oil fields on fire because the fires are out and there are no pictures on display here. Maybe "A soldier" can re caption all the photos to glorify the Bush Doctrine and send them to all his friends! And "Jim" do you think "A soldier" is a WWII vet?

Yes, it is very beautiful. As thousands of thousands other things on the planet. Yet it is sad, that all of it could be destroyed and probably will be destroyed by human's ignorance. :-(

Posted by Emil November 14, 08 01:31 PM

We choose to live like pigs, forget what and who The Man and his dignity really is, and then comfort ourselves with such silly sad products like these pictures... Praising nature, the subject which we in real life either abandoned or actively destroy, all for the sake of our love for city life; praising the author for it. But what does he really do? Mr Arthus-Bertrand sells his hobby îð job as "art", making unabashed political comments, selling his ignorance wrapped in a politically correct cliché, and forcing us to believe in his environmental concern. This all while he has been consuming thousands and thousands and thousands of gallons of fuel to fulfil his sad, void hobby. This is actually a form of a tourism which pays this smart tourist back in two ways: selling his so-called "art" to fly even more again-and-again around the globe, polluting the air more than 99% of people who watch these photos or never take photos, and, secondly, by pumping up his ego through a lie that he has been, oh gosh, an artist and environmental activist in one! A cheap trick, but very costly for the nature. Or for the “GoodPlanet”, whatever globalist clan may stand behind it. Even if he is only a professional aerial photographer, he is pretending to be much more than that.
This "art" does strike our love for the Creator and his Creation, but how? Merely exploiting the qualities which already abundantly exist outside these shots. Capitalizing on the grand subjects which are infinitely more stunning and beautiful than the photos of Mr Arthus-Bertrand. But doing so, reducing the reality, Mr Arthus-Bertrand remarkably shows off his very soul: the pictures are void of the man, or his man, much like his nature, has been reduced to a mere ornament.
Shortly: this modern-time-bluff shows on a deeper level our human fall, the mutual alienation but our estrangement from the nature too. If the looking at these photos was our daily dose of nature, we should do something about it in the first place. Then, don't buy the bogus artist-activist stature of Mr Arthus-Bertrand; think about the real stage behind these shots. Let us all kneel and beg the author: please Yann do stop doing what you have been doing! Try to meet and learn the beauty of the Man! But don’t let him too remain separated from you by a plane’s window or a zoom lens. Make it real, Yann! There are plenty of persons around you, stay with them, stick to them (you may even take your camera with you, but will really do much better to forget it at home). Contact people. Make friends. Help real persons. You won’t have to waste so much fuel, and you will finally fulfil your own faded crave for love. Which all those lonely flights and cold photographs can never satiate…

I have travelled to various countries and seen beautiful and unique places. But I have always come to the same conclusion " There is no place like home"! Yes this is a big and vast world that can have in some regions harsh conditions that would make it very difficult to live but as the pictures display no man is an island and we need one another dispite our differences. After viewing the pictures I feel very blessed to live where I do; with good friends and family. Thank you for the viewing which makes me appreciate where I live even more with clean food, good medical facilities and other human support to enjoy this beautiful life in the world we live. Always take the time to Enjoy; as I have with these pictures and the comments that made me laugh even despite the differences as you have shown through your pictures how different and unique the world really is.

It is funny because all these photos are taken of harsh places, harsh conditions, high mortality and westerners are stupid enough to see small beauty before large catastrophe . We all see a beautiful scene from our white horse before we see that 1 in 4 people are HIV positive. you can tell that the guy who is picking the cotton makes pennies an hour.

Yes beautiful photos, but I too was puzzled by the inclusion of the photo of the tanks and the comments about the gulf war in the midst of all this beauty. I understand that Yahn has somewhat of a political agenda (many of the posters it seems as well) but since he was so close and the subject has been broached...he just as easily could have taken some aerial photos of the devastation of the Tigris and Euphrates alluvial salt marsh eco system, thanks to Saddam.

And He's created all in His Divine Wisdom... May we someday prove worthy of the gift, given to us by our Creator... For it is not the world that we inherit from our ancestors, but the world that we borrow from our children that we see around us, and we destroy it more everyday... I hope one day we will open our eyes and look around us. It has been said, that when the last tree has been cut down, the last river is poisoned, the last fish is dead, then man will realize that money cannot be eaten...

Wow! These pictures are outstanding.

Surely this is proof that the Yellow Monkey Fairy God exists. How could something so amazing come into being without His help. It says in my diary, page 1: "And so the Yellow Monkey Fairy God created all heaven and earth in 8 days and 3 hours, with two tea breaks per day." Surely, the writings in this book and then these photos are insurmountable proof that the YMFG exists.

Seriously, though. Great photos. I suggest people 'Google' the photographer and see some of his other work.

I notice all of these shots are from the air. Makes me wonder how much oil and gas and pollution was caused in making this. How much damage from fossil fuel use in getting to the locations?

This is the damage Gore and Obama have warned us about, yet it keeps going on so we humans can have fun and ego satisfaction.

Think of all the money and resources that were wasted on this "hobby". Think of all the children and poor who need housing, food, health care and then look at these useless pictures and ask....why the waste when so many are in need.

My 2 favorites are the worker in the cotton in the Ivory Coast and the little island village in SW Thailand. The captain in the 2nd picture is wrong though. The Earth is only about 6,000 years old, it was created by God just the way He wanted it, and there never was an ice age or any of this other kind of nonsense that we have been indoctrinated with in public schools.

Awesome beauty and a great perspective... Please consider that these views were all taken from the air.... As a pilot I think we should all realize that flight is a gift and it opens ones eyes and minds to vistas and perspectives not available
from lesser altitudes. Thanks to all the pilots, photographers and the persistence of those who made this perspective possible.

The pictures are amazing and awsome.It is the nature of God. Physical eyes can only see visible natutre as we have seen in this...but God is an invisible supernatutre as our invisible CONSCIENCES.
How beautifull this earth just as how beautiful our CONSCIENCES are,this is our THIRD EYES.THAT MOST OF US WHO DENY TO LOOK INWARD OURSELVES to see how is this . What is the TREE OF LIFE...the tree of life is a connection between GOD,NATURE and HUMAN CONSCIENCES.
Thinhk about this.

wow those were really amazing pictures. I cannot believe these fanatics that have to try and ruin an artists work by turning it into something it absolutely was not meant to be.They are photographs of places alot of us will probably never go. Thats all. There are so many injustices in the world and You have to pick a artist to pick on??? And whether it was made by God or something else, we dont need to bring that up, why not just say wow beautiful pictures- and enjoy. Lets thank the artist who took them, rather than turning this into somthing religious. Dont dig so deep all the time- relax and enjoy simplicity, if only for a minute.

These pictures are just a little sample of all the beauty that surrounds us, it's only necessary to open the eyes and enjoy it!!! In my opinion God or whoever has nothing to do with it, unless you call Nature "god" then it's ok. If there's poverty or people in need, or war these pictures or the great photographer have NOTHING to do about them, so if you're honestly intelligent you should leave those parts of a sad reality out of this site.
Now, 866 thought he was Mother Nature or something, but it's easy to see he's either a failure of a photographer or a kind of ultra-selfcentered pseudogod because he speaks of the " consuming thousands and thousands and thousands of gallons of fuel spent to take these pics", damned him if after he posted his dull comment he has somehow used a drop of fuel in moving his car or if he has used energy produced by a non-alternative-energy source. I mean WE ALL pollute the planet somehow so why do stupid guys like 866 and 928 come trying to spoil such great images and superb work with nasty comments just as if they had been born in the jungle and and eaten bannanas on trees and never done anything to damage the environment? If they were really in favor of the planet they'd be sharing these pics so ppl would do sth to protect nature.

#829 Your belief that the earth was created six thousand years ago does not make it so any more that the flat earthers belief in a flat earth made it so. Just what were you doing in Science Class? Looking out the window, day dreaming, blocking the truth with some belief? Mankind was not running around with the t-rexes. Science has proof repeatable and based on the evidence of the fossil record. Belief is w/o evidence. It requires the turning away from truth, the ignoring of evidence, and the willing suspension of common sense.
