Earth From Above comes to NYC
Photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand will bring his work back to the United States - to New York City for the first time in 2010. Aiming to inspire people to think globally about sustainable living, Arthus-Bertrand has been photographing unique views of our planet, seen from the sky, since 1994 - and has produced an exhibit of over 150 4-ft. by 6-ft. prints which will be on display in New York City at the World Financial Center Plaza and along the Battery Park City Esplanade from May 1, 2009 to June 28, 2009, Spring Spring of 2010. When completed in New York City, the Earth From Above exhibit will also move on to California in 2010. Photographs and captions all courtesy of Yann Arthus-Bertrand. [Update 10.08.2008: At the request of the coordinator of Yann Arthus-Bertrand's upcoming exhibit, the number of photographs displayed here has been reduced to ten - Alan Taylor.] (38 10 photos total)

So wildly diverse. Amazeing.
incredible! Thanks for those...
Fantastic pictures as per usual. I tried to pick one stand out photo but they were all amazing.
Stunning! These are the kind of photos I would like framed prints of.
wow....
I'm amazed that these photographs are only making it to the US now. They have been used in primary schools in Europe for a few years, to show them what is worth preserving. Enjoy the exhibitions when they come your way!
This is by far the best selection of photos I've seen on this blog so far.
Breathtaking. Literally. This is amazing.
Just to clarify - This exhibit is the NYC Debut of a US tour. The exhibit has been to the US once prior, to Chicago in 2002, apologies for the error.
Lots more at his website, too.
Nice pictures, but could've made do without the global warmism editorials.
beautiful and concerning.
My "bucket list" just grew. Thanks for the marvelous photos.
I missed more photos from Brazil and Asia. (China, Japan, Russia, India). But that's ok.
Incredible. Thanks so much for sharing.
> This is by far the best selection of photos I've seen on this blog so far.
thanks
That was such a stunning set of photos... Thank you so much!
Wonderful. I tell as many people as I can about this site, I'm so thankful for it.
Yann Arthus-Bertrand sold his helicopter a few years ago, saying he had enough of this gas-glutton machine.
He is now making a terrific serie of documentaries about people fighting for ecology at their own scale, and every ressources used for the making of the show is carbon-compensated, by helping sustanable developpement projects.
He is a bit our french Al Gore, and even if he his sometimes a bit preachy, he's making a truly amazing work. I wish everybody could see his recent work, this is so much better than Discovery channel short attention span documento-entertaino-crap.
they were beautiful picture- thanks for sharing!
Wonderful and amazing photographs! Puts my "earth level" photos to shame by comparison.
You've had some phenomenal collections here in the past, but this one takes the prize.
Quite, quite stunning,
Thankyou.

I was there a couple years ago.
this site was forwarded to me by a friend who knows I like photos...WOW! very cool - thanks so much!
The caption about depleted uranium isn't entirely accurate. Depleted Uranium is dangerous as a chemical agent, not a radioactive agent. It doesn't cause radiation poisoning, but if ingested as it forms a dust (via disintegration or if it catches fire) it can cause issues more in line with other chemical poisons.
Awesome. Just awesome! Feeling like a bird right now :)
This has to be my favorite entry to this blog thus far. Thanks so much for sharing!
i'm blown away...
Yes! Globaly! You guys rock!
But please, select the advertisers... "you´re the visitor 999999" makes the page so unprofessional.
Thanks for amazing pictures
I have to say, this may be the best series of photos I've seen on this blog yet! Thank you.
The different perspective puts it all in perspective.
Regarding 13 and depleted uranium. Take just one inexcusable crime like spread of DU dust by the U.S. and one feels outrage. Add them all up over the past 50 years and you stop being able to feel anything...
I saw the Earth from Above exhibition when it was in London, England, a few years ago. I remember some of these photos and would love to see the new ones large. It's hard to tear yourself away from these photos.
AMAZING
Absolutely incredible. I'll definitely see his show in NY. Saw him in London 8 years ago. These images are breathtaking in person.
I like,
If you like these pictures there is a nice documentary on our little planet called "Planet Earth" by the BBC (it was the basis for the movie "Earth") and it's in HD. It's very nice.
very nice. Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely breathtaking. Thank you.
Stunning, thanks.
The most breathtaking collection of images I have ever seen; truly amazing.
I am speechless. Absolutely stunning images!
http://contentinacottage.blogspot.com
wow.
Regarding Peter and depleted Uranium, the caption doesn't state the mechanism of poisoning is radioactive. Secondly, depleted uranium (U-238) is in fact radioactive, it is an alpha emitter, and while that radiation isn't often a threat to people standing near it (as your clothing or skin will usually block it) if you've inhaled the dust, you've got radioactive particles being emitted from inside your lungs, and it's not a big leap to think that's probably bad for you.
The caption wasn't misleading, in my opinion. The sad truth is there hasn't been enough studies of the medical effects of DU, because the weapons business is the world's largest business.
I really enjoyed the pictures, I was disapointed when I reached the last one, it left me wanting more! Great work!!
breathtaking.
i didn't know that "Tree Of Life" really exists. one more dreamplace to visit.
These photos are absolutely stunning. Thank you for sharing!
"What a wonderful world"

My Favorite is the Island in the Philippines. Wow!
Yann Arthus-Bertrands photos are awesome! I've got one of his books. Love it!
Absolutely phenomenal set. I agree, this may be the best set I've seen here so far (and I've been here from the very beginning).

"but could've made do without the global warmism editorials"
From the top of the page:
"Photographs and captions all courtesy of Yann Arthus-Bertrand."
So, no, there is no global warmism *editorials*. And if you're against environmental activism, then don't bother with the exhibition because, as it's made clear, again, at the top of the page, that's what all these photos are about.
Personally, I can't wait to see it myself in NYC next year. I'll definitely take a drive down there.
beautiful views of parts of the world one seldom knows to exist, let alone see. bravo, may we join hands to keep the beauty for the future
I think I saw these in Singapore in October 2005. It was really awesome, and definitely worth to go and check it out.
Isn't our Earth just beautiful?
These photographs really took my breath away and made me wish I had a private plane to fly me all over the world taking pictures.
I don't know what to say other than I want to go to NYC to see them in person -- absolutely stunning!
Thanks
What an amazing collection of images. Splendid! Makes us want to travel even more.
No question about it, I'm taking a trip to NY to see this exhibit. I agree with many others - this one is favorite so far of all the entries you've ever done. What an amazing world we live in.
These just prove that you don't have to waste your life preying in the hope that one day you will magically be transported to paradise: we're already here.
We just need to open our eyes and see it then we might save ourselves from destroying it.
What an amazing Planet we live on...
Let's take better care of it, shall we?
I agree. These are phenomenal. I am sending them on. Barb
I have a book by this photographer called 366 Days, i suggest that everyone get a copy because these are just samples :)

Check out this photographer's large-scale coffee-table book, containing some of these (and similar) prints filling the entire page, no margins -- it's a wonderful afternoon paging through "Earth From Above."

Amazing series of beautiful photos with their particular POV and diversity of stunning details are really gorgeous. The description below each one is equally valuable giving another approach to some remote but wonderful places of our planet. Hat off for this.
Viewing these images, we see ourselves as part of something so much larger. . . . .the human is dwarfed by the landscapes, and hypnotized by its exotic and phenomenal beauty. The fun is guessing where and what.

Absolutely Awesome..
Best photography I ever seen.... Gr8 job.
Awesome!!!
Easy if you have budget like this ..
Hi Yan, Terrific Photos. I think with such an important exhibition coming up showing potentially huge numbers of people these photos and captions and wanting to gain the hearts and minds of poeple to preserve our wonderfull planet it's worth ensuring the accuracy of information presented in captions. I noticed something you may like to correct, just the figure of 66 million cubic feet mentioned in photo 23 actualy equates to 1.87 million cubic metres (not 18 million cubic metres) as there are 35.31 cubic feet in a cubic meter. Re photo 27. I wonder how so many Egyptians died, if at the same time, chasing Isrealites??
i love this pic very muce it is amazing and incredible

Absolutely stunning!!!!!!!!
Of course these photographs are amazing but they are very well-known and have been much published / exhibited over the past 10 years or so... I've been following this blog for its original selections so although the pics are beautiful, the post is disappointing!
There is so much art in the reality of every day life. Thanks to our photographer, who is comfortable flying in the air above, we get to see the beauty of the "unintentional art " created by nature and humans.
what a beautiful and stunning reminder of what a microscopic part of this earth we humans are.
you have a delicate way of illustrating the natural beauty of our planet, and the affect we have on it, without coming accross as condescending.
i applaud you sir, and hope that someday i have the chance to see earth as you have.
thank you for sharing!
Wonderful, wonderful photographs.
Most beautiful pictures I have ever seen. Amazing how beautiful in our World.
Always an eye pleasing pleasure to see excellence in photography! These photos made the pleasure also a lesson. Will we ever learn to stop damaging and soiling our own living space/place? Congratulations to Bertrand for excellence in photo journalism AND for sharing the works with us.

I must confess that in my 79 years of life, I have never seen such a truly amazing selection of phoyos.FANTASTIC.
We may, over time, ruin what we see in these pictures, but the beauty of it is that long after humans or gone (or we've gained wisdom), nature will likely rebound.
Incredible, unbelievable, touching... what more can i say? I he would bring his work to germany :)

This set of photos really made me think about the beauty of this planet and how resilient terra firma really is. If it's been around for billions or millions of years, it's astounding at how long it's lasted through all the global catastrophes and cycles.

Amazing! I looked a long time at each photo. One meditates on them. It is obvious how closely we are tied to this earth and all its movements, its destiny is ours.
Wow. This blog is the best website on the net! It belongs on a national newspaper or magazine site so more people can find it!

Makes you think about the big picture, and want to travel and see the world.
C'est Magnifique!
These are magnificent, thank you! It's hard to believe that it's been 17 years since that monstrous volcano (Pinatubo) engulfed my village. I left the Philippines during the eruption and I was the lucky ones that's able to escaped. I thank American people for helping my country. Once again, I appreciate you posting these magnificent photos from all over the world. Keep up the good work and I'm sure there are tons of people who appreciate your work. God bless!
Thanks for including the map links.

# 20 Makes me want to move home to New England
In April 2007 we had "the earth from above" exhibition here in Wanaka, New Zealand during the festival of colours, and we were so lucky to have some of Yanns wonderful pictures on display in such a small place.
Yes, Earth is beautiful
Bravo again and great to see some new images

"This graveyard of tanks will bear witness for many years to" what? the overweening evil of Saddam Hussein? the necessity of force to stop evil in its tracks? the liberation of a people from a dictator? No, silly! "To to the damage that war causes both to the environment and to human health." Ah yes, human health! No one cared about the human health of the children in Saddam's prisons! The photos are beautiful, though, so I guess it's all OK.
Its easy to take pictures like that if you have a chopper....
wery, wery nice pictures ;):)))
Oh my god. Just.. Amazing.
What a wonderful and breathtaking world we live in!
Thank you :))
AS,,, just because you knew of this artist does not mean thousands of us have seen his work before. I enjoyed it for the first time. If you didn't like this Blog, move on and stop gripping.
Pooh on AS and his bored comment. This first-time viewer was entranced.
Unbelievable!!!
Photographs are highly appreciated for their stunning beauty, but less for the accompanying politcized commentary.
I saw the display in Montreal a few years ago. It is totally breathtaking and thought-provoking. You won't be the same after you see it.
that certainly displays how beautiful this place is called "earth".
All of a sudden, i want to go travelling again.
No words to describe.. awesome
Estas fotos são realmente fantásticas! Nunca vi nada igual. Estou recomendando aos amigos para que vejam também. Impressionante!

Look at this beautiful world we all live in!! WOW!! This is OUR home regardless of which country we are from. It makes me wish that we remember that we all have this one home when we get ready to go to war with each other.
Let's do whatever it takes to save our planet.
I am really amazed
We are so big... yet we make ourselves so small with our human thoughts and deeds.
I cannot find the words to describe the photos. Beautiful, amazing, unbelievable........they don't seem to do the photos justice. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to see so much of the world that I didn't know existed. I can travel the world thru the photos. Please continue to give us an eagle-eye view.
I have been an amateur photographer for years and these are the most beautiful photos that I have ever seen. What a history lesson too. Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing.
The Green paddy field in Pokhara Nepal looks amazing
I'm not a photographer and my comments may not mean much, but this body of work is simply incredible!
Now, what did Pete in comment 210 say? Boring, because subjects are in the center. Well, where do you put your subject? In the corner, or perhaps on the margin outside the frame? C'mon, thousand others may see it differently.
Unbe'f*cking'lievable!!!
wow, these pictures are amazing! :D

Lindo, fantástico, maravilhoso. Seria bom olhar, e perceber que está mais do que na hora de cuidar da nossa terra.
Beautiful, wonderful . It would be nice look and see who is more than the time to take care of our earth.
Amazing, breath taking. Thank you for sharing such wonder.
We have to do wherever is in our power to help preserved such beauty. As "guardia ambiental" I bealive in taking care of our planet, don't let it die.
Como "guardia ambiental", creo fuertemente en el cuidado de nuestro planeta. Estas fotografías, nos dan una prueba de lo mucho que podemos perder, o mejor dicho, que estamos perdiendo, no lo permitamos!
Too much for the mind at one sitting. Need to look at these wonderful photos over and over again, but who has the time?
Absoutely incredible! I've traveled just a little bit before to several countries, but never saw any of this before! From one picture, it looked like France was in South America! Paris certainly didn't capture it all...
Amazing Pictures ....Awesome :)
I can just hope we humans can understand the treasures we have on our planet, and how delicate it is to preserve them this way. We should all be conscious of the little things we can do to preserve such beauties.
its awesome.....too good.
these are mind blowing pictures.
Awesome but these photos exemplify how urgently we need to cherish our earth Natalie
Incredibly...... Unbelieveable.... Awesome....!!!!!!
God is just awesome for making this planet so brilliant and beautiful.
Sungguh menakjubkan ciptaan Allah! Tahniah kepada Yann Arthus-Bertrand.
Awesome, made my day.
Only GOD could have come up with all this beauty.
Thank you! Let's keep passing them on!

Lovely!! I've been looking at the pictures for the past hour!! Can't get enough!
mindblowing pictures, makes me want to keep on travelling all my life !
Nearly every photo carries the same message: Beauty, yes! Awesome beauty! And all of it at risk from our increasing numbers. Shall all of it perish before we learn to curb our appetites--and our numbers? Pray we realize 'EXCESS OF EVERYTHING' will be our undoing, and that of so much Beauty!
Absolutely Fabbbbbbbulous!! Yann Arthus-Bertrand is certainly one of the most patient photographers who has an unique eye to capture breathtaking pictures like these! Thanks a ton for sharing them!
really marvelous pics...
Fricking Amazing. These photos really show you The Big Picture. Thanks again!

breathtaking!!! too good! :)
my favourite picture is four.as if bring me another world, fantastic!
Thanks for sharing. All are great photos.
Thank you for sharing these mesmerizing images. It makes you wonder about the state of our planet and how far we will go to destroy it. So easy it is for man to keep taking from the earth and not think about giving back. When I see these images, I think how lucky we are to have such an amazing planet. Why do not our leaders of the world not see this, and want to change how we structure our priorities. The tanks, remind me of the current war and how much poisons and rubbish we leave behind, a reminder hardly ever seen. Yann Arthus-Bertand's photos bring the closeness of beauty and the harshness of human kind together. Please bring your show to Seattle, we welcome it. It is needed in these uncertain times.

A really nice view of our Earth from the camera point of view, it makes you wonder how beautiful is our Earth and why we do such things to degrade its beauty. A BIG QUESTION for all involved in Earth destruction, as we can see in some of these photos (photo nr. 13, 23, 25, 33 and also 35). Shame that we destroy this wonderful environment, and pity that we are too small to do something in its protection!
So beautiful in it's glory, so sad to see what man can do to our mother at times (like the Barrios and copper mines) but not always....the clever farmers of rice and tea and the mosiac of small plots in Ireland....there's hope for us yet.
breathtaking....
á㯥à¯ã¯¥à!
My life seems empty after viewing this beauty.
Wow!!
It is a weird and wonderful world!
Now we know what we are destroing.

Great!!!
...and then people say there's no God? please... Thats His beautiful artistic touch...heaven on earth.
The pictures are fabulous! The commentary, however, is political, emphasizing 'green' conclusions and conservation objectives. As a bynote, the Iraqi tank 'graveyard' pictured is not radioactive, and no radioactive dust cloud is or was ever observed. I was there, measuring those factors.
Yann Arthus-Bertrand is an institution in France and should be around the world, please support him in his works. His books are amazing a lots of the benefits go to global environmental associations.
Woow....Amazing...And really cool the explanation with every pic....I miss that most of the time!

I wish I could fly. Too bad Jesus couldn't fly, otherwise you might have seen these photo's sooner. Long live the beatufiul things in our world that actually exist.
By turns stirring and infuriating, this collection strikes a diplomatic balance between pristine beauty and unfolding ecocide. What's really heartbreaking, though, is that so many previous commenters seem unable to account for the natural beauty on display here without attributing it to their civilized conception of God. The kind of god that the same people who are destroying this planet in their hubris could see fit to worship could never have created something so varied or so largely inhospitable to His supposed favorite species. Or are these people seeing the beauty of their own handiwork in the pictures of desecration? That would explain their catching God's reflection in it.
It's amazing how our world is! It's beautiful!!! I hope to see one of these someday!
Annette
Yes, these picture are gorgeous . . . but why are there so many god shout-outs? You know there is no god right? You creationists scare me.
Man *just* did NOT deserve such a beautiful planet. He is just plundering it. More than feeling happy, I feel bad that this is all slowly being lost. I feel sorry for all the other beautiful creatures who own this planet more than humans. All merely because of man's greed.
Unique photos. Think of how wonderful things would look in the future if human population would be controlled and it decreased to from near 7 billion to a sustainable 2 billion.

Brilliant, what a view for my morning tea, and a refreshing revelation. It is a reminder how precious a gift we were have in this planet, and how we are bonded by our collective responsibility for it.
Thank you, Arthus-Bertrand, for shareing you're talent and makeing us all more aware of this wonderful world.

Is a little sanple of the magestic and amazing world charming beauty. It is live alive.....
Breathtaking pictures!
All those pictures shows to cherish this beautifull world we have.
If we keep poluting this world then it won't take much time to destroy this world of ours.
Wow, It opens the narrow mind, and fills it with a little bit of God's view.
I don't understand all of you who keep saying that we are destroying the earth and blablabla, what we do has little to no impact whatsoever, and even if we did it would just be incredibly selfish to think it's destroying the earth. The earth will be here long after the human race dies out somehow.
The real destroyer of the earth will be the sun once it burns up and expands to destroy everything around it.
And the pictures are indeed nice, but let's not make them bigger than they really are. :)
Just amazing how we and nature/God form such huge patterns
God truly is an artist. I have never heard of most of these places. They are spectacular! You are too, so talented and knowledgable about the world.
Thank you so much for sharing God's handy work.
absolutely fantastic..i will be sure to see the show while in NYC in Feb Thanks!!!!

absolutely beautiful.........more people should take the time to see what their own back yard beholds. The earth is an amazing work of art. I hope we can hold on to it for future generations. Excellent photography.
What I have been thinking for some time....with so much beauty around all of us, why are we fighting and destroying each other? Can't we just sit back and
enjoy what God has given us???
Awesome pictures, interesting text, thanks Yann Arthus-Bertrand.
For those who would like to see more, I can only recommend you to take a look at his marvelous book: "Earth from Above: 365 Days". It contains a collection of pictures, just as beautiful as the one you saw here.

If you enjoyed these pictures, you'll love Yann-Arthus Bertrand's series, which has 2 parts, Fragile planet and Saving our earth. Brilliant!
We must do all we can to preserve our beautiful world.

really striking photos, beautiful as always. it's nice to see the home land getting a mention as well :D

Absolutely moving photos. Amazing photographic talent
Stunning images. I do however reject the comment on the tank graveyard; there were never a million depleted uranium shells fired during the war. The alpha particles of depleted uranium can be stopped by a piece of paper. The danger from the dust they produce in a battle ground is if it gets into the body, as in windblown dust. The radioactivity of depleted uranium is approximately 60% the radioactivity of natrual uranium.
God has created a wonderful environment for us to live!

Come for the photos, stay for the religious bollocks. Lovely photos too, and I'd have love to have been the photographer, but alas all I can do this evening is sit at my PC and appreciate the skill and effort of others. People that is.
First time I've seen the term 'godspam' on the tubes but it's very appropriate. How many people, so indoctrinated into the Cult of the Dead God that their self-identity has been completely swallowed, feel the need so badly to godspam completely non-religious posts and threads just to see their names in print?
These are really surprisingly beautiful and eye-catching views. It shows what God had made and what man has done, especially the melting of the ice due to global warming.

it is cool!!!!!!!!!!!olgutjers
beautiful. Thank you for the voyage.
I was sent this link by my brother. I was so touched by many of the images and will pass it on to others. These are really fantastic photos!!!
I disagree that our misdoing has little or no impact on mother earth. Just consider every individual leaving a piece of litter around. Soon you have a mountain of rubbish. The pictures are indeed awsome. Could man have brought them about?
Only God can. Let's go back to the Bible "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.. Genesis 1:1
Here's a google cache version with all 38 (not only the 10 that are here) pics, get it while its hot!

This Text by Joachim Neander sums it all

so many lives passed between two streets..
If you're going to bring your god into this then don't forget to attribute all the rape, torture, murder, genocide, disease and all forms suffering in the world to your god as well.
I never understand how people give all the good stuff to god and not hold him accountable for everything else as well.
At least Darwin had evidence.
Or otherwise use the brain that evolution gave you to think for yourself and appreciate the pictures for what the are - snapshots of a steadily disappearing time.
nice pics but leave off the slanted commentary. 1,000,000 DU rounds fired during the first gulf is bulls**t . also DU is not radioactive hence the name depleated. du is also not a known major cancer cause, it is toxic if injested just like lead or other heavy metals.
Lovely & provacative.
cool

Let us all go out and try to keep this planet ready for our children. It's beautiful, and the only one we have.
really amazing places, and very beatiful
thank you big bang, for providing us with such amazing sights
and thank you science for allowing us to see them
Each past generation did something wrong (slavery, holocaust, human rights, etc).
What we do wrong is how we treat the Earth. Future generations will blame us when they will see these beautiful pictures showing how our planet used to look like.
Time to do something about it.
Religion is a silly bias to bring into such objective beauty. Spiritually moving, yes, biblically affirming? Well, you can use any evidence in the right context to validate your belief. Leave beauty alone; to let it be caged by religion is to sanitize its unbiased potency.
Wow Just pure beauty
ONE SINGLE WORD:
AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Marvelous Excellent work Pretty Great photos
These are totally awesome. after anyone seeing these how could they not believe in the Creation by God.

Is there anything so beautiful as nature?
Awesome. Very beautiful images to behold.
You go to your bible and I'll do to my equally provable Greek myths of creation.
Either way this is amazing.
I have heard stories of Morrocan guides who take you into the middle of their village to buy a rug. If you disagree with the price of the rug they will let you find your own way back!
sorry to see that there is another pile of yankee junk cluttering up the world. too bad they don't take their crap home when they take the resources and leave.
what happened to the rest of the pictures?!?! There were quite a few more the other day - now there are only a few here.
Very nice by the way.
Great Photographic work, has a great sence of beautiy. Love God and he will protect. Have to remember that God did this for us to keep...Praise his name forever and His Son Jesus or what ever YOU call him!!!! Thans for having these on line.....

God Almighty has created such a beautiful world for us to live in, only we are bent to turn it into a 'shit hole'. Humans must take a U-turn now. Let us pledge today to make a positive difference.
Absolutely stunning, breathtaking, and beautiful.
Not so much with the editorials put under the pictures, which only served to ruin my enjoyment as all editorials are opinion, and not fact based. As a matter of fact, pretty easily shown to be false with current science data. Toss the editorials, keep the pics.
Thanks for posting them

very cool
Thanx for a wonderful feast to the eyes !!
We'll all burn in hell!!!
Obviously we'll end up living on a plant like Venus thanks to the general retardness of most humans that unfortunately devour our oxygen and waste the cosmos's vast and generous atoms!
People all around the World need to start paying attention to the fucking World and not their stupid, pathetic selves.
Think about it anyway, the Earth will out live all of us, so why even both putting yourself above the Earth, when you are already a ticking time-bomb!!
Death to Iraq!!
Breathtaking and sobering
Truly Awesome!!, I still look at this wonderful thing called Mother Nature and cannot find the words to describe its sheer wonder and beauty. The vastness of it all and the endless diversity. My eyes took it all in and loved every scene. Sadie C. of Ky.

This has being going on since Earth was created and earth was devevolped

that respones by Earth people are very slow.

It's not OUR world to caretake. The world produced us. We need to respect it and coexist within its systems, and minimize our up-to-now selfish consumption and careless impact on these systems, but we would be arrogant to call ourselves the caretakers.

"after anyone seeing these how could they not believe in the Creation by God"
Well, they might reason like this: 'creation' is a story, in a book written by some long-dead men. Why should I trust them? Did they even claim to be writing down facts?
Here are some facts:
Just because something is complex, doesn't mean it was made.
Just because a thing is huge, doesn't mean it was made by a huge white-bearded deep-voiced person.
And just because you grew up with parents watching over you, doesn't mean a giant invisible proxy-parent is still doing so.
And here's another fact: Christian and post-Christian nations are the ones most responsible for destroying what we see in these photos.
So please don't use science images as Christian propaganda.

simply awesome. beautiful and breathtaking.
So what about all the ugly parts of the world? Is there less god in them? Did god slack off on the ugly parts and figure "eh, nobody will notice"
I can kick your god's ass, and until he proves otherwise my word stands.
Pollution and urbanization are by definition the product of people. More people equals more pollution and urbanization. You cannot correct these problems without reducing breeding, Period.
JUST THOUGHT YOU MIGHT LIKE THESE PICS. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THESE ARE SOOOO COOL!!!!!!1 I LOVE THEM!
God is truely awsome! What a wonderful creator we have. By the way, the sin and death, that is the work of us, not God. Get a grip. ---John 3:16---
I must say that these pictures are amazing! They hit on the beauty of the world and also point out the sufferings. I hope that these pictures will be able to travel the world so that we can cherish what we have.
Let the beauty of nature stand on it`s own merits, without all the twisted, idiotic political commentary fouling up the issue.
These are truly amazing pictures. Only God can take the credit for creating our planet for us. He gave us beauty for our eyes to behold. He gave us water air and fruits and vegetables to sustain us. He also gave us each other for companionship and for help in time of need. When we make choices to destroy our neighbors we not only destroy them we destroy ourselves. There are always consequences for the good and bad things we do to each other and to our planet. As God created the world for all of us only God can save us from destroying our planet and each other. Give thanks to God for the beauty and Pray for His help.
glen teen: Depleted Uranium doesn't mean it isn't radioactive (it is, as there aren't non-RA isotopes of U), it means it has been used up in processes, and is not useful anymore (mostly other elements, won't sustain a reaction, etc.)
It is harmful, and will cause cancer if dust is breathed in or if somehow ingested (just like any other RA isotope). It *may* not be dangerous if external, but internalized where the radiation can wreak havoc with live cells (alpha and beta can't penetrate enough through skin to be problamatic outside the body) and you can cause genetic damage and cancer.
I appreciate that this dude has to sell his art to make a living, but i dont live near NYC, nor will i ever get a chance to pay to see one of his exhibits.. so dropping from 38 pics to 10 is a bummer for me.. art isn't if there's a cover charge.
Fabulous pictures of our Mother Earth. We have a challenge to try to keep our Earth beautiful. PLEASE DO YOUR PART!
I love that the captions include links to the sites on Google maps.
My favourite is the view of the dune in Egypt. The map reveals that they have build a new section of road to skirt around the dune!

Mother Earth is worth respecting and protecting.
All our "small" choices add up.
Let's "intend" a more peaceful existence: more diplomats and fewer warriors.
These photos inspire us to do our best. Thanks.
These photos are the highlite of my evening. It's a lot to dream about !
The photographers of these pictures should recieve the equivalent of the Nobel Price for Excellence
SIMPLY SPECTACULAR, NATURE'S BEAUTY AT IT'S BEST.
LOVE IT.
But we are destroying our planet...
Good work!
These photos make you realize how small humans are in this world...

SIMPLESMENTE IMPRESSIONANTE!
SÃO ESTES OS SITIOS/ ANIMAIS QUE DEVEMOS PRESERVAR. PARA ALÉM DE OUTROS TANTOS QUE NÃO SÃO APRESENTADOS NESTAS FOTOS ÚNICAS, DIGNAS DE EXEMPLO PARA TODO O PLANETA!
OBRIGADA!!
Thank you for this shift in perspective. Namaste!
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
its simply Jai Guru Dev!!!!!!
Praise be the name of Jehovah, the Creator of the world for He has given you talent to capture the beauty of His Creation. May He continue to Bless you with wisdom to produce more pictures like this. And may the Peace and Love of Jesus Christ be with you all.
Our planet is only a tiny, tiny bit of the Universe. Reminds me that I am part of a bigger picture, and will not understand it all while my spirit is stuck in my body. I thank God for the Universe, this absolutely beautiful planet and putting me here to enjoy.
Thank you for such a wonderful exhibition!
Beautiful images.

these are amazing pictures! who took them? i want to apply to take a picture for you :]
"And here's another fact: Christian and post-Christian nations are the ones most responsible for destroying what we see in these photos."
All the religions are interconnected. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam have common prophets. In all religions there were problems. Even Pre-Christian civilizations or religions, like Mayans had issues. Great civilizations are not destroyed from outside, but from within. It's starts with family values.
I think religion is just a pretext for fight. Most people who use religion for their actions, they don't do it in the name of God, but only to have an excuse. And besides, religion is just a human interpretation of life and God, it's not the goal, only a mean
amazing, wish i could take pictures like these one time in my life.
You'd think we'd take better care of it, wouldn't you?
DAAAAAMNNNN !!!
The pictures are amazing and wonderful! It's a mircle of what a camera and/or satilite can catch right?

True-How small we are!!
The beauty that is science!! I love it.
Wow! So amazing!
Fantastic pictures and more fantastic when I come to understand that the place on one of them, the one from Thailand, I visited in 2003 and the other, from Antarctica, I will visit coming November.
Earth is a beautiful place and we must stop polluting it so that coming generations will have a chance to live here.
Amazing photos, great great job.
God Created this planet and set the rules for it, it is amazing that religion haters would use god to perpetuate their reckless people controlling ideologies disguised as guilt ridden environmentalist [we are all sinners, so it sounds].

Disturbing images from Iraq, what a great criminal that saddam was, he destroyed our country just like many middle easterner rulers do/did for their countries, what a shame that he was allowed to last this long, and come to think of it, what a shame a that any human would have wanted him to stay through inaction.
I saw this exhibit or one very like it in Prague a couple years ago and it was astounding - it should definitely be worth whatever effort(s) it takes to see it!
So many places.....so little time...
These photos are absoluely fantastic, it boggles the mind. Truly beyond comprehention.
AWESOME!!!
If you love these pix, but can't get to NYC or other exhibit location, you can buy the book. I bought one about 5 years ago. It's simply beautiful. I strongly recommend buying it; you will sit for hours looking at it.
Wonderful photos!
I've been to that village in thailand and its pretty intense, one of the islands near the village is called james bond island. the man with the golden gun was partially filmed there and it is deffinately a tourist attraction worth seeing.
these are strong beautiful pictures, we shape the world carve it how we like it, we damage it and we can fix it.
Have faith in humankind. pictures like this make us more aware of what we do to the world.
Personaly I worry about people who talk about an invisle power that controls everything. but if it harms no one, its there right to belive anything they choise. but I'll throw myself in with science and man thanks
Fantabulous, mmindblowing!!!!
Awesome Pictures !!!!!!!
We gotto be there. Amazing Eye

Really, these pictures deepen your view of God..... It amazes me to think that people can not except the fact that it is quite likely that NOTHING exists after death. Nothing but everlasting silence. To believe that you, we, are some kind of exceptional beings whom deserve an after life, well, that is ignorance at it's best! Humans kill each other for religious beliefs, how much worse could ones hypocritical belief possibly be? If anyone does not deserve a heaven or a hell, it's humans!
hey!! that left me speechless
Wow! These photos fill me with gratitude that I live in this beautiful world. I trust that it (the world) can repair itself of the grievous injury we unthinking humans visit upon it. We can help by changing our behaviors so that we do not injure the environment further.
Fantastic!
what a beautiful world we have!
and also what excellent photographers we have in the world!
I enjoyed it.
absolutely amazing, what alot of eye candy
No comment................
I am alive, thanks for showing back nature to me!
It's sad to be reminded that people think we're killing the earth... We're not killing the earth; the earth will be around for millions of years after we're gone. We're only killing ourselves and the animals that require environments similar to our own. We will be a momentary blip compared to any other species that has reigned and fallen on this planet. We're arrogant and stupid. And religious blather only makes us appear stupider.
Those who love Nature and its Creator, and share it through pictures, are wonderful people who use their talents productively. On the other hand, those who criticize and destroy that which is good, do so only because of self hate which they project outside of themselves. How sad that such people cannot appreciate and celebrate the good that others do. Such people are destroyers of the physical and visual good, and use "science" as an excuse. "Science" is only one of many areas of human existence, as there are many layers to life itself. Beautiful Nature here much appreciated. Thank you.
The nature is too beautiful.....................
Thanks to the grapher for the amazing photo's.................
Too bad the few atheist wannabees commenting here know so little about God and religion. Do not condemn out of ignorance. Many very serious scientist are great believers, saying that it is precisely their work that has brought them to God. If we all followed the two most important commandments (to love God and to love our fellow man) things would be much better here on Earth which the Bible commands us to take care of. Just think about it. The rest of us will pray for all of us. Thank you for the beautiful photographs. let us appreciate and respect this man's work and buy the book.
Indeed very unique photogrpahs and ofcourse very well captured!!!
The photographer captured Mother Nature beautifully, you have been blessed with a gift, thank you.
Realy.............Cool!
great shots. Really amazing
our earth is just too beautifull and the different cultures and people living on it even more wonderfull ,lets all of us preserve it.
whoaaa..
stunning photos photography
really stuffed job

all the best.

wow yaar!!!! really cool pics ....where did u get those from dear>????? ny way they superb...
With scrap metal prices so high recently, those tanks at Al Jahrah, Kuwait should be recycled into new steel. Where some see only waste and destruction, I can see opportunity. The radiation from the depleted uranium ammunition is no worse than that found in some natural mines and can be handled with conventional technology that miners already use.
I truly appreciate you sharing these beautiful pictures because I have never seen anything so breathe taking. There is no place like planet Earth, however, all of us collectively need to care for it...and take it seriously.
beautiful pics!!!
went to to the one from thailand dec 2007 was an amazing place!
cool
Fantastic...Beautiful...Grander......I wish I could think of some more adjectives to use at the moment
Breathtaking, stunning--how privileged I feel to be able to gaze upon the world from up high, as if I were an angel...
Very Cool Pictures
beautiful pictures!!!!
Greetings and Blessings from Africa the Motherland.
OSmammmmmmm!!!!!!! mind blowinggggg
amazing...thanks for sharing!!
Some really stupid comments about some God being responsible for all this.
Nature (from the word natural) is fantastic. I enjoyed looking at the pictures and how I wish to visit some of the places on earth that I have not seen.
The most beautiful places are those not spoilt by mankind but we must recognise that mankind is having a direct impact in some of these places (Desert, jungle and the ice caps)
Extraordinary, exquisite, expansive, unique perspective! Provacative work! Startling color and detail combine here to not only to educate but to stimulate w/ a spectrum of patterns. Thanks and hats off to Yann.
superb, mindblowing,fantastic,history
Very beautiful pictures.
All pleased me. Did not even know that there are such wonders on our planet.
This is truly amazing!!
super tare frate!!!!!
Great pictures.
To those religion responses:
If someone asks me if i believe in god i answer:
Which god is that ?? the one the bible discribes ?? or are you talking abbout the driving force behind the univers that makes things happends and is not personificated ?? I am not religious if that was the purpose of the question but i do believe something is controlling things but it is not a being.
Simple breathtaking photos from a lens of talented photograher
thanks for sharing
Hi (Assalaam-u-Alaikum)! These images depict the fact that this Universe is craeated by one Creator (Allah). The beauty of its creation is countless. He just created all this for Humans but we are not paying gratitude to Him as was told by His messengers. The last & final messenger Muhammad (P.B.U.H) told us the complete way of being an ideal Human to be beneficial to ourselves & others. We should praise our Creator all the time for His blessings on us.
Anent the religions comments...don't be ridiculous. This planet is just one of a myriad balls of rock spinning throughout the universes. We have no idea if, or how many, others support life and the human arrogance that thinks all this beauty was created for us, alone, is the apex of hubris.
We're hard at work destroying the only home we have and we then get all teary-eyed at the beauty of what is left. We need to stop relying on a fairy tale to rescue us from our own destructiveness and realize that the only ones to save this beauty are the ones that look out from our mirrors.
beauties
Salaam to the world ! Peace to humanity !
Say NO to hate & destruction........ This world belongs to the human race!
That's the overwhelming message of these splendid photos !!!! Ohhhh!!!!
Yes the world is truly a beautiful place. The pictures show nature has a balance which constantly works to replace and perpetuate. All the animals in the world have their place in the balance of nature, as do the beautiful terrains changing season to season, decade to decade.
The only disappointment to all of this wonderful synchronicity is the human race. Who because they follow only material and money will continue to destroy until there is very little left. Let us pray for Peace on Earth and Good Will to All Living Things, before it's too late.
Only the photos where there is no human contamination or presence are beautiful, the photos corrupted by the human presence are horrible, shows how harmful we are to the planet, this world is not for mankind is for every living creature. This photos remind us that not everything is lost, and that we have to stop thinking in ourselves and take care of what is left, to start to reduce our population. Nature create us and we are destroying it.
Debemos comenzar a reducir nuestra población. La naturaleza nos ha creado y la estamos destruyendo.
Beautiful. Let it be.

What wonderful photographs.Believing in a creator is far more logical than believing in evolution.
VERY NICE BUT CAN YOU PUT A PIC. OF MOTHER EARTH ON THE OUTSIDE???
Great work -photographs, thoughts n concern for the mother nature! u keep doing good! god blees u!
The earth is a beautiful place, some of that beauty is man made.
If you want to think a god has anything to do with it, that is your affair. Don't try to force your opinions on others. Religion delayed the development of this civilisation with blood shed and torture. Lets get on with our lives in peace.
WONDERFUL PHOTOGRAPHY AND A VERY SENSITIVE EYE. WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE REAL THING. PERHAPS 2009 WOULD BE A GOOD YEAR FOR TRAVELLING, MONEYWISE.
Absolutely breathtaking images. I spent several enjoyable minutes viewing and reviewing these incredible photographs. Thank you for sharing them with the world.
The photgraphs are stupendous!
The pictures are breath taking -------- just awsome.
HOW INCREDIBLE! THESE PICTURES ARE SO AWESOME! YOU ARE A TRUE ARTIST/PHOTOGRAPHER!
Such beauty in all of it.
Incredible and it's sad to think we'are destroying all of this.
SWEET
somewhere faraway galaxy may have similer planet like our earth, some day science may be able to find that planet,it is wonderful photograph.
ABSOLUTLY BEAUTIFUL, AMAZING AND BREATH TAKING
Did you know?.............. That scienctists developed and propagated a bacteria that would kill another bacteria whitch was a threat to cotton crops, not realizing or not caring that said bacteria was a threat to us humans...........
Beauty, like truth and goodness, is both personal and moral. The universe can only be beautiful (and good) if it was created by one who is both. If the universe is simply the product of random chance and our existence is accidental, then we must stop complaining about its abuse and destruction—we have no moral obligation to protect something with no intrinsic and eternal value. I am not an arguing for or against Theism, just asking for consistency. Those of you who believe the universe is created by an all-powerful person have a moral obligation to preserve and protect it. Those of you who believe the universe is the product of chance have no moral obligation to preserve and protect anything, let alone demand that others follow such inconsistent behavior.
!!!!!!!!!
the best. nothing else to say.
wow
heyeee dammm good. cheers.....!
There is no god.
The beauty of these pictures are mostly the ones of nature, untainted by man.
The one I found repulsive of course was the tanks. These pictures do speak volumes of the beauty of nature. Now if you can imagine it, way back when, before the industrial revolution, you get a sense of it, undefiled and in its purest form.
What we see of the beauty in nature today is so far from what it used to be I'm sure. Even in this little glimps we see today is fascinating.
Think about it, it is amazing how perfectly ordered the Universe is and that it doesn't fall out of place or break the order. It is the most precise mechanism that one can fathom and can never be repeated by any stretch of the imagination (Hadron Collider). Some of the most brilliant minds in the world cannot duplicate this, though they can try. What boggles the mind is that some believe that this is all random chance and that life came forth from nothingness. Even the Hadron Collider took much skill and development, it to has a creator. Can you imagine an explosion and wow we have a collider, think it through.
We have been given a gift not only of life, but also the beauty of the vast expanse of the Uni(one)Verse(Voice). We find the beauty of nature and how it gives such pleasure to our senses. It was made for us, to sustain us perfectly. When we treat our earth as a gift from God, treat our very life as a gift from God, we should become thankful and appreciate what we have and not abuse it. But we should not worship the earth (Gaia) either.
Gaia |ˈgīə|
1 (also Gaea, Ge) Greek Mythology the Earth personified as a goddess, daughter of Chaos. She was the mother and wife of Uranus (Heaven); their offspring included the Titans and the Cyclopes. [ORIGIN: Greek, ‘Earth.’ ]
1 Praise the LORD!
Praise the LORD, O my soul!
2 While I live I will praise the LORD;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
3 Do not put your trust in princes,
Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help.
4 His spirit departs, he returns to his earth;
In that very day his plans perish.
5 Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help,
Whose hope is in the LORD his God,
6 Who made heaven and earth,
The sea, and all that is in them;
Who keeps truth forever,
7 Who executes justice for the oppressed,
Who gives food to the hungry.
The LORD gives freedom to the prisoners.
8 The LORD opens the eyes of the blind;
The LORD raises those who are bowed down;
The LORD loves the righteous.
9 The LORD watches over the strangers;
He relieves the fatherless and widow;
But the way of the wicked He turns upside down.
10 The LORD shall reign forever—
Your God, O Zion, to all generations.
Praise the LORD!

Was fantast!! Wish I could have seen them in person.
Amazing!!!!.............from the ultimate view point
#786 needs a life!!...Just can't you accept it for what all the photos represent?
BEAUTIFUL!!! all of it!!! It makes you think of how we are "just dust in the wind"..
in short,we are ALL ONLY HERE FOR A BRIEF TIME AND ENJOY YOUR TIME AND TAKE CARE OF WHAT WE ALL HAVE IN LIFE!!!!and treat others as you would treat yourself!!!!..IF YOU DON'T think that another "Being" did all of this world then you need to reevaluate yourself!!!..YES,YES YES,There is a GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The pictures are truly beautiful, & amazing and there really aren't enough words to praise the photographer. However I found the comments very enjoyable as well, especially the ones that give credit to our God.

The earth is very beautiful, but with a creative photographer we can see some of the beauties much better.
Interesting that the poster of these pictures noted on the Itaqi tank graveyard did not mention the horrible fascist regime who killed many and tortured more and then set the oil fields afire, but OF COURSE, as usual, blames it on the United States, who continues to be the most giving and benevolent country in the history of mankind, AND then ignores the fact that the water-borne village in Thailand that is pictured dumps all its sewage and waste into the bay ,,,, every day!
nice pics

What a magnificent glimpse at our environment!
What a magnificent point of view !!!!! Love it!

These are very good pictures. Very inspiring and makes you more aware of the beauty around us. Which, when your sat in an office 24/7, is easy to forget== Gareth Bradman
Can you find beauty inside of yourself that reflects these photos? Do you believe YOU are this beautiful as well? It is there inside of your actions everyday. Act on love and kindness today, not fear that keeps us in bondage. Keeps us forever wanting and blaming...... Imagine waking up each day to peace inside. You would glow and others would see and You would be sharing. Now that is WOW
GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS IS AMAZING!!! GOD IS GREAT!

It's impressive photo and mother nature! Would like more photo other country of world.
La planète EST. Point. Le bleu, le vert, le jaune sont dans nos yeux. La beauté dans notre cerveau. On ne peut pas détruire la planète, on peut juste la changer.
Elle SERA toujours. Avec ou sans nous. This is the question!
So many people has been killed i the name of God. I don´t understand how anyone can allow a belief, or a person, or an organisation to take up so much space and time of a persons life that you miss out of all other wonderful things around you. There are so many people who spend their life claiming things in the name of their God that they forget the beautiful world around them (as shown on theese pictures). I accept every man to be whoever he wants to be. I accept that everyone are allowed to belive whatever they want. The problem is that there are so many people who doesnt accept theese things. It´s their way or the highway.
Take care everyone and a lots of cred for the wonderful pictures.
(if i have misspelled, it´s because i´m swedish ;) haha)
I wish I get a chance to visit some of these gorgeous places if not all ..... in my life time.
Many thanks for the great pictures!

I feel privileged to have the opportunity to admire these amazing pictures of how beautiful our earth is, and how inter related we all are, thru these outstanding photographs. Seeing the earth thru your eyes. Truly outstanding.
The photos are amazing but are also a reminder of what we are doing to our beautiful planet. This photographer is sending us that message.
WHAT AMAZING AND STUNNING PHOTOGRAPHY WHAT A WORLD WE LIVE IN WE SHOULD ALL STOP AND STARE EVEN ONCE IN A WHILE
Absolutely gorgeous photos! Shows what amazing talent this photographer has!
These pictures are breath taking
great stuff
All people talked about this AMAZING PHOTO while many peoples killing. This is real oportunity of the admire oh is true God! Fantastic for view. Is the contrast enter the badly and the well(good).
Wonderfulllllllllll.
Awesome photos. Unfortunately in the US we have a class of citizens who go into "outrage" mode at the slightest provocation. I did not interpret the tank graveyard photo as criticism of the US, it is just a neutral comment. There was no mention of oil fields on fire because the fires are out and there are no pictures on display here. Maybe "A soldier" can re caption all the photos to glorify the Bush Doctrine and send them to all his friends! And "Jim" do you think "A soldier" is a WWII vet?
Re: depleted uranium: DU has little radioactivity but uranium is a very toxic substance due to its chemical properties.

Beautiful photos. Thanks for that. Thanks too, to the majority of intelligent folks in our wonderful country who had the great and good sense to vote for a beautiful and decent human being, our new president :Barack Obama. Bless him and his family and send him all of your good wishes and hopes for his term of office and for our country.
I don't know if there is a G-d or not. Nor do I care. I wish for peace, tolerance and a return to the America I remember. No more haters, pride for everyone and a sense of "Yes Indeed We Can and Will!"
I only hope Miss Barbara is right

Why do you people turn nice photos into political or religious statements? I do not understand. Just enjoy the damn photos.
Allah be praised.
NOW I KNOW THERE'S A GOD!!!!!!
Amazing, i don't have words to telll
Yes, it is very beautiful. As thousands of thousands other things on the planet. Yet it is sad, that all of it could be destroyed and probably will be destroyed by human's ignorance. :-(
We choose to live like pigs, forget what and who The Man and his dignity really is, and then comfort ourselves with such silly sad products like these pictures... Praising nature, the subject which we in real life either abandoned or actively destroy, all for the sake of our love for city life; praising the author for it. But what does he really do? Mr Arthus-Bertrand sells his hobby îð job as "art", making unabashed political comments, selling his ignorance wrapped in a politically correct cliché, and forcing us to believe in his environmental concern. This all while he has been consuming thousands and thousands and thousands of gallons of fuel to fulfil his sad, void hobby. This is actually a form of a tourism which pays this smart tourist back in two ways: selling his so-called "art" to fly even more again-and-again around the globe, polluting the air more than 99% of people who watch these photos or never take photos, and, secondly, by pumping up his ego through a lie that he has been, oh gosh, an artist and environmental activist in one! A cheap trick, but very costly for the nature. Or for the “GoodPlanet”, whatever globalist clan may stand behind it. Even if he is only a professional aerial photographer, he is pretending to be much more than that.
This "art" does strike our love for the Creator and his Creation, but how? Merely exploiting the qualities which already abundantly exist outside these shots. Capitalizing on the grand subjects which are infinitely more stunning and beautiful than the photos of Mr Arthus-Bertrand. But doing so, reducing the reality, Mr Arthus-Bertrand remarkably shows off his very soul: the pictures are void of the man, or his man, much like his nature, has been reduced to a mere ornament.
Shortly: this modern-time-bluff shows on a deeper level our human fall, the mutual alienation but our estrangement from the nature too. If the looking at these photos was our daily dose of nature, we should do something about it in the first place. Then, don't buy the bogus artist-activist stature of Mr Arthus-Bertrand; think about the real stage behind these shots. Let us all kneel and beg the author: please Yann do stop doing what you have been doing! Try to meet and learn the beauty of the Man! But don’t let him too remain separated from you by a plane’s window or a zoom lens. Make it real, Yann! There are plenty of persons around you, stay with them, stick to them (you may even take your camera with you, but will really do much better to forget it at home). Contact people. Make friends. Help real persons. You won’t have to waste so much fuel, and you will finally fulfil your own faded crave for love. Which all those lonely flights and cold photographs can never satiate…
Has anyone read Genesis 1:1? In the beginning, god created the heavens and the earth.
Amazing the disrespect people give to god these days.
FANTASTIC!
The world is a wonderful place filled with glory and grace. Not all of it is man made; yet it has all of the elements of intelligent design, continuity, function and comprehendability. What is even more amazing is that it was here before we were here. It will also be here long after we are gone despite our destructive nature.
super collection picture
866 needs to chill out
simply SUPERB....
Amazing work, well done. Congrats.
My goodness I never saw photos like this before, very inspiring shots!
I have travelled to various countries and seen beautiful and unique places. But I have always come to the same conclusion " There is no place like home"! Yes this is a big and vast world that can have in some regions harsh conditions that would make it very difficult to live but as the pictures display no man is an island and we need one another dispite our differences. After viewing the pictures I feel very blessed to live where I do; with good friends and family. Thank you for the viewing which makes me appreciate where I live even more with clean food, good medical facilities and other human support to enjoy this beautiful life in the world we live. Always take the time to Enjoy; as I have with these pictures and the comments that made me laugh even despite the differences as you have shown through your pictures how different and unique the world really is.
Beautiful I enjjoyed it !
nice pics
WoW
It is funny because all these photos are taken of harsh places, harsh conditions, high mortality and westerners are stupid enough to see small beauty before large catastrophe . We all see a beautiful scene from our white horse before we see that 1 in 4 people are HIV positive. you can tell that the guy who is picking the cotton makes pennies an hour.
#866 You must like to hear yourself talk, do you?
Wooooooooooow! Not a sound ... just a smile ... and dream, dream, dream ... shuuuuuuuuut!
I agree with 871 that 866 should take a PILL maybe take 2 PILLS and CHILL out maybe he has ties with GREENPEACE or another tree hugger association i feel he has nothing better to do with his SAD life ,and complain how others enjoy LIFE.
Yes beautiful photos, but I too was puzzled by the inclusion of the photo of the tanks and the comments about the gulf war in the midst of all this beauty. I understand that Yahn has somewhat of a political agenda (many of the posters it seems as well) but since he was so close and the subject has been broached...he just as easily could have taken some aerial photos of the devastation of the Tigris and Euphrates alluvial salt marsh eco system, thanks to Saddam.
nice!!!!!
i agree with #791 and there IS a God otherwise how could all these BEAUTIFUL pictures be here? the photoghraphers are amazing!
.....Wuall......These pic is WANBDERFULLLLLLLL...I'm from brazil and see yours fhotos is perfect....
Good work
kisses
Amazing..great photos ! thanks a lot for sharing..
And He's created all in His Divine Wisdom... May we someday prove worthy of the gift, given to us by our Creator... For it is not the world that we inherit from our ancestors, but the world that we borrow from our children that we see around us, and we destroy it more everyday... I hope one day we will open our eyes and look around us. It has been said, that when the last tree has been cut down, the last river is poisoned, the last fish is dead, then man will realize that money cannot be eaten...
Unbelievable!!! Too Great
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo my god wthat the hell is that this is imposialbe and now after u seen that u can now say how is god can be able to make any thing and thx very mush about the picture it give us more information about he world

GOD
great project.
auf jeden Fall enorm beeindruckend!! Vielen Dank an den Künstler!
hi nice going into all the coments AFTER sliding the foto's. Men or mankind can interpret so many different thoughts watching the above n then give their comments .the photographs are brillliant. some of them, (man made disaters) which spoil the asthetics of God made earth, should not be there in the first place but reminds us of what went wrong lets do something to stop this brutality.

fishunr, the melting of the ice 15,000 years ago was clearly George Bush's fault.
These pictures truly made me realize that God created our earth to be beutiful and we as people should respect, care for and protect what we have and stop the wars so that all of future generations to come will love it too and not have to look at this as only the past war zone. God help us.
Life is beautiful, if you know where to look! Great pics.

Picture is truly worth thousand words! Please do conduct your exhibitions in India sometime.
#8 is so powerfull!
awesome and most beautiful truly a breath taken. This beauty, that we all live and breath, has an amazing, and unforgetable sight. That is so powerful. And it sure is God indeed awesome word.
Wow! These pictures are outstanding.
Surely this is proof that the Yellow Monkey Fairy God exists. How could something so amazing come into being without His help. It says in my diary, page 1: "And so the Yellow Monkey Fairy God created all heaven and earth in 8 days and 3 hours, with two tea breaks per day." Surely, the writings in this book and then these photos are insurmountable proof that the YMFG exists.
Seriously, though. Great photos. I suggest people 'Google' the photographer and see some of his other work.
nice .............................pic
wonderfull picture
awe-inspiring !! daroon !!
Indefatigable to see the pictures. Amazing . All to prude look many time. Make good the human metabolism.
Absolutely AWESOME photos ! Amazing talent photographer has , To have done such EXCELLENT PHOTOGRAPHY !!
TRULY BEAUTIFUL
Unbelievable!!
It is to inform you that these are really very intresting picture and the most important thing is that the all of them are not artificial they are natural.....
Our world is a magical, mythical dream - a dream we are all co-creating and sharing and thank you to Yann Arthus-Bertrand who captures it so exquisitely for us to remember.
I notice all of these shots are from the air. Makes me wonder how much oil and gas and pollution was caused in making this. How much damage from fossil fuel use in getting to the locations?
This is the damage Gore and Obama have warned us about, yet it keeps going on so we humans can have fun and ego satisfaction.
Think of all the money and resources that were wasted on this "hobby". Think of all the children and poor who need housing, food, health care and then look at these useless pictures and ask....why the waste when so many are in need.
My 2 favorites are the worker in the cotton in the Ivory Coast and the little island village in SW Thailand. The captain in the 2nd picture is wrong though. The Earth is only about 6,000 years old, it was created by God just the way He wanted it, and there never was an ice age or any of this other kind of nonsense that we have been indoctrinated with in public schools.
Awesome beauty and a great perspective... Please consider that these views were all taken from the air.... As a pilot I think we should all realize that flight is a gift and it opens ones eyes and minds to vistas and perspectives not available
from lesser altitudes. Thanks to all the pilots, photographers and the persistence of those who made this perspective possible.
too gud....amazingg
great pictures!
The pictures are great!!! Thank you for sharing them with the world.
It is something Amazing . I gives a serene feeling to every viewer. I wish to see more often such natures beautiful pictures.
All of these pictures are simply amazing! My friend and I marvled at each one! These pictures are a way to let you know to keep our Earth safe and sound. Happy Earth Day, everyone! Reduce, reuse, and Recycle. =]
THANK YOU SO MUCH , THAT WAS AMAZING!!!!!
it's beyond of my expectation as an artist. yann you have done great job .
my salute to u.
my dear like to paint on canvas of this unseen part of our plante. really it is inspiring me. u can touch me - ajay.chakradhar@gmail.com.
ajay chakradhar ,artist from india
The pictures are amazing and awsome. It is the nature of God. Physical eyes can only see visible natutre as we have seen in this...but God is an invisible supernatutre as our invisible CONSCIENCES.
How beautifull this earth just as how beautiful our CONSCIENCES are, this is our THIRD EYES.THAT MOST OF US WHO DENY TO LOOK INWARD OURSELVES to see how is this . What is the TREE OF LIFE...the tree of life is a connection between GOD,NATURE and HUMAN CONSCIENCES.
Thinhk about this.
Oh what wonderful picture view!
I never see before
Any cameara can shoot anything , but you need an eye to see.
The eye of Yann Arthus-Bertrand are indeed above this earth.
Good Work Dude ...
wow - THANKS - after a difficult day, it's nice to smile and feel good about our tiny wonderful little ball of life
seriously inspiring! The chemical pollution the tanks are giving are indeed toxic!!!
Breath taking!!!
I have no reservation to say its really a good job you are doing for the earth, for us.
Helt suveräna bilder!!
i loved the pictures. they were so cool. my favorite one was the person on the white flower looking things.
I didn't know that boats can break ice.
WOW ! Those are amazing pictures ! I wish I could have seen them in person !
~Lexie
that very nice frome you I hop you be stay fowerd
good luck
cheers
928 and 866 are right. The photographer is just another Al Gore type. Do as I say, not as I do.
It's so predictable. You show impressive photos of the earth and religious fanatics see this as a proof of the existence of God and start yapping about it.
I really like these photos. They're not just trying to impress. They all have a kind of sensitivity that I like.
lmao 866 wrote an essay, relax lol
amazing pictures though
Awsome pictures - Michael Byrne Canada
wow those were really amazing pictures. I cannot believe these fanatics that have to try and ruin an artists work by turning it into something it absolutely was not meant to be.They are photographs of places alot of us will probably never go. Thats all. There are so many injustices in the world and You have to pick a artist to pick on??? And whether it was made by God or something else, we dont need to bring that up, why not just say wow beautiful pictures- and enjoy. Lets thank the artist who took them, rather than turning this into somthing religious. Dont dig so deep all the time- relax and enjoy simplicity, if only for a minute.
To 929 you should go on a world tour, you could make millions, being as I see it, the only known human in recorded history to have lived during that time frame and survived, to be able to tell us all about what happened and what didn't !
Jah, ilmselt nii see on
And you know ???
He's french !!
Haha on vous l'a bien foutue profond
These pictures are just a little sample of all the beauty that surrounds us, it's only necessary to open the eyes and enjoy it!!! In my opinion God or whoever has nothing to do with it, unless you call Nature "god" then it's ok. If there's poverty or people in need, or war these pictures or the great photographer have NOTHING to do about them, so if you're honestly intelligent you should leave those parts of a sad reality out of this site.
Now, 866 thought he was Mother Nature or something, but it's easy to see he's either a failure of a photographer or a kind of ultra-selfcentered pseudogod because he speaks of the " consuming thousands and thousands and thousands of gallons of fuel spent to take these pics", damned him if after he posted his dull comment he has somehow used a drop of fuel in moving his car or if he has used energy produced by a non-alternative-energy source. I mean WE ALL pollute the planet somehow so why do stupid guys like 866 and 928 come trying to spoil such great images and superb work with nasty comments just as if they had been born in the jungle and and eaten bannanas on trees and never done anything to damage the environment? If they were really in favor of the planet they'd be sharing these pics so ppl would do sth to protect nature.
Expectaculares las tomas!!
WOW... what a picts!

AINDA É TEMPO====O TEMPO URGE.
A photography of the natural elements is an very interesant subject, special in the unknown areas. Will be great to have photos from the Danubian Delta and Snakes island , Pic OM of the Carpathians, in Romania an old cultural history. Thank you for this work.
#829 Your belief that the earth was created six thousand years ago does not make it so any more that the flat earthers belief in a flat earth made it so. Just what were you doing in Science Class? Looking out the window, day dreaming, blocking the truth with some belief? Mankind was not running around with the t-rexes. Science has proof repeatable and based on the evidence of the fossil record. Belief is w/o evidence. It requires the turning away from truth, the ignoring of evidence, and the willing suspension of common sense.
These pictures are awsome! Keep up the good work.
Mankind, BEWARE! Our resources will one day be used up and the future of our children will suffer. Man will polute the earth. So, enjoy what is here while you can. The earth has taken care of us but we do not, so much, take care of her.
This is our world, its very useful for knowledge.
the world is so sweet from above, so soft, so harmless, so pretty; it's a complete surprise once you land
me gusta mucho ay ay ayy!!!
