The 15th season of "Law & Order: SVU," the NBC police procedural known for mining headlines for inspiration, will feature an episode ripped from the massively controversial George Zimmerman trial over the death of Trayvon Martin and celebrity chef Paula Deen's recent public troubles, according to an Entertainment Weekly interview with the show's executive producer Warren Leight. Just in case you missed that: Both major news stories will be combined into a storyline for a single episode.

"[Actor Jeffrey] Tambor is a defense attorney representing a very high-profile celebrity woman chef who thought she was being pursued by a rapist and turned around it was a teenager. And she shot him," Leight said in the interview, adding that Cybill Shephard will be playing the Deen-inspired character. "There’s a lot of stop and frisk elements to that as well."

A day before Leight's comments, Buzzfeed started the guesswork as to whether a Trayvon Martin-based "SVU" episode was in the works after posting pictures from the set that suggested that the producers may be planning such a story.

Will you watch the episode? Does it interest you? Does it bother you? Should "SVU" look elsewhere for inspiration?
