Longtime newswoman Barbara Walters is set to retire in 2014, as reported by USA Today according to sources close to the situation. The 84-year-old host of ABC's "The View" is said to be hanging up her microphone in May of next year. reports that her retirement will be celebrated with a "big sendoff with retrospectives and other special content in the weeks leading to her retirement that would celebrate her 52-year broadcast career."

Walters was the first woman to co-host "Today" in 1974 and went on to anchor "20/20" and "ABC Evening News" before joining "The View" in 1997.

The trailblazer took a fall in January that landed her in the hospital, but all has been well for Walters despite some host shakeups on her ABC talk show, where Joy Behar's upcoming departure and Elisabeth Hasselbeck's rumored leave have taken center stage.

So is Walters really next in line to leave? On a March 11 episode, Walters said she is here to stay -- at least right now. Following Behar's on-air discussion of her own departure, Walters chimed in with: "Right now, the only person who cannot leave the show is me."

Does that statement still stand true 17 days later? Do you think Walters will retire?

Until we know for sure, check out some of the best Walters impressions in history.
