Rapper Nicki Minaj, songstress Mariah Carey and Australian country star Keith Urban debuted on the 12th season premiere of "American Idol" last night. Was it everything you'd hoped for?

It seemed like the theme of the night was "you're good, but come back next year." Minaj was quick to jump on these words of wisdom with several auditionees, recommending that the wannabe American Idols go home and polish their skills before returning for another face-to-face with the judges.

Not everyone at the New York City auditions was turned away. Beverly's Angela Miller was one of the lucky ones who got the yellow ticket to Hollywood. The 18-year-old singer who says she has 20 percent hearing loss in one ear, and 40 percent hearing loss in the other, belted out "Mama Knows Best," and got a yes from each of the four judges.

Another local face, Saugus' Michael Bounopane was not so lucky. His version of "We Will Rock You," re-written to the tune of the Queen hit with lyrics directed at each of the judges, did not impress. He went home empty handed.

Did you like any of the singers? Think you spotted the next American Idol? Let us know.
