We SO knew this was going to happen, didn't we? Sarah Palin is going to begin her TV career as a contributor to Fox News, according to the New York Times. She'll appear as a commentator on a number of programs on the network, according to her new multiyear deal. Palin is also expected to host an occasional program on her very own.

It is, of course, a brilliant move for Fox News. Palin, coming off her bestselling memoir and her TV tour in support of it, means lots of attention. Her appearances will surely attract notice in all corners of the media, and they will probably help Fox News hold onto much of its conservative viewership. Having Palin will further solidify Fox News as a critical voice of the Republican party. Will it have any impact on her decision-making about running in 2012? Unclear.

"Governor Palin has captivated everyone on both sides of the political spectrum and we are excited to add her dynamic voice to the Fox News lineup," Bill Shine, Fox News' VP of programming, said in a statement. And Palin said, "I am thrilled to be joining the great talent and management team at Fox News. It's wonderful to be part of a place that so values fair and balanced news."
