Today, TLC is announcing that "Jon & Kate Plus Eight" is going to be renamed "Kate Plus Eight" in November. You know, what with the changing Gosselin family situation and all. The show will continue to focus on the eight Gosselin children and their family, but with a detour into "Kate’s role in the family and her journey as a single mother building the next chapter in her life," as TLC puts it. Jon Gosselin will continue to appear on the show, but on a less regular basis.

Maybe they should just call it "K'eight"?

  1. On a related note, MTV announced that "Tool Academy" is going to be renamed "Jon Gosselin's Tool Academy."

  1. maybe they should dump it because it makes me sick.

  1. I think it's stupid to keep the show going at this point.

BUT, I love your idea for a new title!!!

  1. Maybe they should just call it "Obnoxious, annoying woman with a bunch of brats that no one cares about."

Posted by hatemachine September 29, 09 11:14 AM
  1. This is outrageous. As a loyal fan i feel that this really takes away from the family perspective and great situations that they learn to work through. Maybe if the name didnt change the two could work their problems out. When they drop Jon from the title its like their giving up on the marriage and that really saddens me. ...........................haha jk , who cares

  1. Stupid! With all the channels people have and they have to watch this junk. They should try reading a book or spending quality time with their own families.

  1. My God, just get off the tv and take care of your kids! Seriously, how is this not child abuse?

  1. TLC must be deperate to keep this show on the air, in any form.

  1. Or call it "how to sell to sell my children on television, to make a few bucks"

Posted by dr mouse September 29, 09 11:19 AM
  1. Isn't it time to let her her children have a normal life while there is still some childhood left?

Posted by Scott September 29, 09 11:21 AM
  1. I've never understood the attraction of this program. He is a boob, she treats him like one of the children........Geez, enough is enough!!!

    Posted by Clarky 49 September 29, 09 11:24 AM
  1. It's a wonder how she gets her head through the door now. For sure she won't after November. And she's not a single parent. The nannies are parenting the kids, not her.

  1. How about "Narcissistic Compulsive Attention-Seeking Media Whore Divorcee Plus Eight Dependents"?

Posted by captainfeedback September 29, 09 11:25 AM
  1. It found it interesting to watch in small doses when the kids were very young, seeing the logistics of feeding 8 toddlers at once and all that. But the schtick is played. Cancel the show.

  1. I would be embarrased to admit I ever watched this stupid show and haven't and never would.

Posted by Pat September 29, 09 11:26 AM
  1. This is the dumbest show on TV. Everyone knew they were headed 4 divorce court. Everyone who appears on a reality show eventually goes wacko. Why not just end it on a somewhat positive note and keep some dignity in tact and just end the show? It makes me wonder if the kids aren't Kate's meal tickets.

Posted by Chris September 29, 09 11:28 AM
  1. Just change it to "Kate's Ego Trip" and be done with it. Or better yet, cancel it all together. If the point of the show was that big families can work things out together despite the challenges, they've proven that they can't be bothered. I agree with Michelle, start taking care of your kids!

  1. TLC.....The Learning Channel..........what are we learning from all this

  1. this is pathetic. She was the main reason this marriage went down the tubes -didi you see the way she treated Jon and the way she spoke to him in front of cameras and their children! And now, with doing all that craop adn creating a bad situation, she gets first billing is definately a tragedy. She is NOT the victim here. She does her road trips, she does her personal appearances and leaves ehr kids with babysitters - where is the loyality adn motherly devotion there?. It is kind of funny though, now she is trying to act like someone who cares. She has never treated her children so nicely, she ahs never played with them , she ahs never spent time doign things they want to do adn now since this issue with Jon she is acting phoney.
    She needs to be dumped

  1. Octomom is getting her own show, too. She gives me the creeps. I dislike Kate. I used to watch the show when it first started, before all the fame and paparazziz. Now she thinks she's an actress or something. Arggr....

  1. Does Kate jump a shark this season?

Posted by Tom September 29, 09 11:36 AM
  1. how about "Money Hungry, Narcissist Mom With Too Many Kids and Doesn't Want To Work"??

Posted by Haywood Jabuzzoff September 29, 09 11:37 AM
  1. Maybe they should rename it Kate, Good luck finding a date. With 8 kids and that bitchy attitude no guys will go near her.

Posted by Bob September 29, 09 11:39 AM
  1. Why not just rename it East Coast Octo Mom

    Posted by kn4eva September 29, 09 11:40 AM
  1. It's now all about the money. Jon and Kate bought that million dollar house "for the kids" and now Jon has taken a hike. Who will pay for the kids home if no money is coming in. Those kids need to work!
Really...get rid of the show, Kate, go back to your nursing job and get a house you can afford to live in

Posted by gofish September 29, 09 11:42 AM
  1. It's been a long time since "The Learning Channel" deserved its title.

Posted by Cynthia September 29, 09 11:44 AM
  1. I don't think Kate will ever give it up...she'd rather sacrifice the kids first... She has the biggest CRUSH on herself... since she's had some repair work done. Get off the TV and give the kids a normal life...

Posted by jackie September 29, 09 11:46 AM
  1. Are they going to make the kids say "On this episode of Kate Plus Eight..." that would be so sad. poor children.

Posted by TC September 29, 09 11:47 AM
  1. I think it is time to cut the show and deal with the situation and carry on with their lives "off camera".

Posted by PH September 29, 09 11:51 AM
  1. maybe jon should start his own show called, "jon the a-hole."

Posted by Laurie September 29, 09 11:51 AM
  1. SO... does that mean she won't have time to travel & promote her books anymore? She's actually going to be a mom now?

Posted by GiveMeABreak September 29, 09 11:51 AM
  1. The only thing I want to hear about this show is that it's been cancelled. Kids shouldn't be whored out by their attention seeking parents. There's all kinds of neglect and letting nannies raise "your kids" while you trot around the country making appearances, giving speeches, signing books and whatever else keeps you from home is the some of the worst kind.

My kids may not have had a million dollar home and unwanted fame but they do have great memories of trips to the beach, blowing bubbles in the backyard, doing things as a family that are not to promote anything but familiness ... If TLC gave a damn about the kids, they'd take this peversion of childhood off the air.

  1. How about in the matter of Gosslin vs. Gosslin? A new court room drama about a reality TV family...

Posted by John Dunn September 29, 09 11:53 AM
  1. Seriously - how much longer is TLC going to allow her to continue to exploit those children - oh's all about her. I'm sure those kids will love to watch how their parents' marriage fell apart on the reruns...cancel it and allow those kids to be kids. And John - why aren't you fighting harder to get this done???

Posted by Kat September 29, 09 11:53 AM
  1. Nice try TLC, but not buying the "Kate’s role in the family and her journey as a single mother building the next chapter in her life," premise. How about the truth-in-advertising version: "Kate's reprehensible quest to perpetuate the feathering of her nest on the backs of her eight increasingly dysfunctional children." In the wild some animals eat their young, on TLC it's called "Kate Ate Eight"

Posted by Paul Caldera September 29, 09 11:55 AM
  1. To quote George Castanza in response to the question, why would they watch the show..." Because it's on TV"

Posted by allriledup September 29, 09 11:56 AM
  1. Kate has 8 kids and dirtbag deadbeat ex-husband who couldn't support himself, let alone 8 kids. Let Kate milk this for all she can, that money is going to have to last the next 20 years, until those kids are out of college.

Posted by josh September 29, 09 12:05 PM
  1. you can't call it "Obnoxious, annoying woman with a bunch of brats that no one cares about." because then people would confuse it with that other dumb bee-ach in CA with the 14 brats that no one care about....

  1. No wonder the ratings have gone down. The show is awful, she is obnoxious, irritating, and downright selfish. And she claims its for the sake of the kids? Yeah, right. Even if the show goes off the air, I'm sure she'll find some other show to be on, because she's in love with herself. YUCK!!!!

  1. Dear TLC, I hate you. Dear "devoted fans" - spend time with your families and if you really want to watch TV, try to watch something that's not glorified scat.

    Posted by S. September 29, 09 12:34 PM
  1. Be honest, it is paid programming. Chock full of plugs, sponsorships and, oh yeah, 8 kids that deserve privacy and a chance at a normal life.

Posted by Hoss September 29, 09 12:35 PM
  1. Used to watch the show in the beginning...And she has ALWAYS been a #*$@%! This is just ridiculous!! GIVE IT UP TLC! No-one is LEARNING anything from this show other than how bad parents act! Why are you rewarding her with this?!? He is no winner, but at least I guess he has kinda gotten out of the show.. Although, if he had more interest in his kids, he would push to stop the WHOLE SHOW and put a stop to the Ex using their kids to make money!! No wonder his atty left...HORRIBLE!!

    Posted by colokid6 September 29, 09 12:36 PM
  1. I agree number 13. Kate is NOT a single parent. I am sick of women with money and an active ex-husband consider themselves single moms. My mother-in-law calls her self a single mom even though her ex-husband has the kids more often than she does and foots all the bills. Calling yourself a single mom when you are a kept woman completely undermines all of the actual mothers out there who are living sans child support and doing it all on their own.

Posted by anonymous September 29, 09 12:39 PM
  1. This "show" will never jump the shark, when the shark showed up Kate made it feel so bad that it left for good before they could jump it. Regardless nobody cares anymore. Just hope all the kid's come out ok, time will tell.

    Posted by joemac22 September 29, 09 12:40 PM
  1. How about renaming the show "Jon & Kate... Plus Each Other's Dates" ... ?

Posted by sunshine September 29, 09 12:41 PM
  1. This is great. The kids get stranger looking each season, so it should be fun to watch from that standpoint, alone.

Posted by biscuits September 29, 09 12:49 PM
  1. I think Jon should pitch his own show: "Jon minus 9"...and the two should could go head-to-head.

    Compelling television!

  1. I like post #22

Q: "Does Kate jump a shark this season?"

    I will add this:

A: Only if they can get Fonzies motorcycle out of Henry Winklers garage...

    Posted by me_too September 29, 09 01:05 PM
  1. anon #51: "single mom" doesn't mean "mom without child support" it means "mom without a partner." Without Jon, Kate IS a single mom, regardless of how you judge the other resources (nannies, book deals, whatever) available to her.

Posted by samantha September 29, 09 01:09 PM
  1. Now called "Kate Plus 8 and Jon on a Date"

Posted by grasshopper September 29, 09 01:09 PM
  1. How offensive!
Kate is NOT a single mom!!!!
Jon will still be a parent and he'll contribute to his kids' lives.
Why doesn't TLC just change the name to: Divorced Dads Don't Count
or: Only the Parent with Physical Custody Matters
or: Suprise, Kids! We're Going to Act Like You Don't Have a Dad Anymore!

Posted by Noel September 29, 09 01:17 PM
  1. Kate plus 8 plus two dogs!!! Don't forget the dogs.

Posted by joe September 29, 09 01:34 PM
  1. noel, 59: chill out. not married=single mom, single dad. Jon can still be a contributing parent but it doesn't change that Kate is a single mom, he is a single dad. If TLC twists that for their own marketing needs that's one thing but they ARE single parents now that they are not partnered. Why is this offensive to people?

Posted by samantha September 29, 09 01:39 PM
  1. These kids are doomed.... they're going to grow up to be little dim witted half celebrities that will probably make such smart decisions like robbing convenient stores and beating up prostitutes. Now that's a show I'd watch.

Posted by Bones September 29, 09 01:39 PM
  1. Title: Kate plus 8 is enough

Posted by Merlin September 29, 09 01:42 PM
  1. Which do you hear more often: "She's a single mom; she tries so hard; it's so hard for her to keep up with the kids and everything...." or "He's a single Dad, it's so hard for him; he tries so hard to keep up with the kids"

I think we know what we all mean by calling someone a single mom. That is someone who wakes up most if not every school morning, gets them all out runs all the errands, goes to work, tries to get home in time for them and then get them to soccer, basketball, art, music lessons, whatever, get them home, bathed fed homework done, laundry washed folded, dishes done, lunches made for the next day, etc. And then has to plan on being on time to get them to their father's house by 6 pm Friday afternoon and not being late for the Sunday 4 pm pick up. Now THAT's a single mom.

Posted by grasshopper September 29, 09 01:44 PM
  1. Good for Kate. She should get the show and the house and the kids. He obviously didn't care about any of them.
I'm not surprised to hear that he wants to halt the divorce after this announcement so they can "work on their marriage". What a schmuck

Posted by Sabs September 29, 09 01:45 PM
  1. No grasshopper #64, that's what YOU think a single mom is. Single moms come in all shapes and sizes, some are struggling and some are not. Some have involved partners (the single dads) and some do not. They are ALL single moms if they do not have a full time partner in the home with them.

Posted by samantha September 29, 09 01:51 PM
  1. Pass the Pepto please, who needs to see another single mother try to raise her kids. Actually, sell her kids into psychotherapy and eventually their own reality show.

  1. What about "Kate plus 8 Mid-season replacements"??

Isn't the Octo-Mom just about finished shooting her reality show?

Posted by Common Sense September 29, 09 02:56 PM
  1. I think people take offense to the "single" mom term because Kate is crying on cue and acting like she has to take care of these kids "ALL ALONE" and how hard it is for her...Come on now, she has nannies and babysitters around the clock. She is never forced to take 8 kids out alone and watch them all. She also has crew that is constantly helping out with the kids. Not too mention someone to prepare the meals and bathe the kids and to wipe their little hiney's even. She has none of the financial hardships that a lot of moms encounter when they are suddenly divorced or separated. She leaves her kids for days and weeks at a time. She get plenty of breaks. she should stop with all the Woe is Me crap and maybe people might respect her a little more. Get rid of the nannies, cooks and crew...

I do believe we dont need more of this show and i watched it. It was cool the first 3 yrs but knew things were alittle to down on the talk on t.v to each other. Kate and jon seemed the normal cat fighty couple mainly her from what you see on t.v. I will just choose to not watch and thats all i can say. the ratings go down then it will fall apart guys..

  1. You know where this is going to end up...

Kate vs Octo-mom pay-per-view mixed martial arts fight.

John will be on Dancing With The "Stars"

The kids will all be on "Intervention"

    Can't wait!!!

  1. I loved the show when it first aired. It was relateable and interesting. I was amazed by the fact she had 6 kids at once.
Once the media started getting involved and they moved into their mansion, i could no longer feel any sort of "compassion" or even relate to the show in any way. Then they started going on long crazy trips places and have Emeril over, i mean, how is that '"reality" tv? Does Emeril come into ANYONES kitchen in "real" life?? or have East Coast Choppers come over and give them a motorcycle? Please. Give me a break. The basis of the tv show has done a complete 180 from when it first started.
Watching their relationship on tv, i knew, was a mess....but they "seemed" normal. Now she feels guilty and he feels like a kid again.
Its just gone to a really weird place.....

  1. After she got her new house she wanted a new man. Tried driveing him off by abusing him but it bacjfired. She didn't want people to think she was the one who asked for a divorce and ruin her image but she had to because Jon was wanting marriage counseling. Please take the show off and get those other sextuplets from WE whose parents still associate with family friends and neighbors and work and go to school.
