As holiday programming gets thin-thinner-thinnest, the Discovery Channel awaits you.
"Time Warp": Hosts Jeff Lieberman and Matt Kearney use high-speed photography to slow things waaaay down, to show us what’s really going on when, say, a dog uses its tongue to drink, or a guy gets punched in the face, or (see above clip) when a bubble artist does his thing. And you thought only Virginia Woolf could find eternity in a moment… Tonight at 8, the team deconstructs the action at Cirque du Soleil.
"Destroyed in Seconds": It’s why the Discovery Channel is, to use the History Channel’s phrase, a “modern marvel.” For an hour tomorrow (Thursday) night, at 9, you can watch a race car slam into a wall at 100 mph, homes ruined by 260 mph winds, a snowmobile falling 300 feet down a mountain, a van crashing into a police car at 70 mph, a massive explosion at a chemical plant, and a sinkhole swallowing up a huge apartment building. Good times, people.
