...because the election isn't the only source of intrigue around here. Entertainment Weekly reports that "Grey's Anatomy" has abruptly dropped Dr. Erica Hahn, the hard-edged surgeon played by Brooke Smith, who had recently gotten into a lesbian relationship with Dr. Callie Torres. Her last episode will air this Thursday, with no apparent closure. Michael Ausiello's sources tell him this was an order from ABC, not the brainchild of the "Grey's" producing staff. And notes that the relationship was taking an explicit turn. Conspiracy theories, anyone?

  1. That is too bad. I am so glad I stopped watching this show. They always seem to disappoint. Fear and ignorance seem to always rule the day on TV. I cannot believe they blamed this on chemistry, since Callie had no chemistry with George either. I guess too many smart women making interesting life choices on one show was way to risky. Shonda Rhimes should start taking notes from people like Joss Whedon, Rosanne Barr, Edward Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz who really knew how to make groundbreaking TV involving gay characters.

  1. She was great until she "became" a lesbian. It just seemed so weird with her and Callie but why did she get the boot and not Callie? At least Hahn hasn't slept with everyone!

  1. I really enjoyed her cutting edge character - flaws and all. I figured the lesbian relationship with Callie would peter out but we would still have a solid, non-quirky female character. She was harsh but entertaining. I will be interested to learn more about the departure. Probably boils down to the fact that she isn't "pretty" enough. Finally, maybe they can now devote more time to Sloan's character development. How many seasons can he go on being a himbo?
