Thursday-morning theories about "Lost"

One of my favorite things to do on Thursday mornings is to log-on to various websites and check the public's responses to the previous night's episode of "Lost." My favorite today was on EW.com, in which a writer proclaimed that the man in the orientation film called himself Mark Whitman last night but he used the name Candle in the earlier film. Really? Even better, HE HAD TWO ARMS.. In the previous film, he had one arm. Get out of here! How did I miss that?

What's fascinating is that the writer implied that the initial film, which was black and white and on a reel, appeared to have been made first (and with one arm). The second film, in color, on videotape and copyrighted in 1980, was clearly made later (and with two arms).

SO DID THE ISLAND HEAL CANDLE/MARK'S ARM? Was Candle/Mark ever on the island?

In the first film, Candle/Mark did refer to an "incident." Very interesting food for thought. Until next week....
