Glee 8 p.m., Channel 25

Yeah, it’s back, after a summer of behind-the-scenes drama involving possible cast exits and spinoffs. Sometimes shows get too big too quickly, and, as with “Grey’s Anatomy,’’ the backstage problems cast a shadow over the product itself. But creator Ryan Murphy is saying that he plans to get back to storytelling and the core group of characters this season, after losing the thread in the past year. Tonight, “Glee’’ returns with yet another go at the nationals. Lindsay Pearce, one of the “Glee Project’’ runners-up, will guest star, and the gang will perform “We Got the Beat’’ in the cafeteria.

Raising Hope 9:30 p.m., Channel 25

I love this sitcom, which is irreverent about parenting and yet very sweet, as little Hope turns out to be this crazy family’s best gift. Tonight, in the second season premiere, Jimmy recalls his teen years, when he was a musical prodigy. In the flashbacks, he is played by Greyson Chance, who hit it big on YouTube and got mentored by Ellen DeGeneres. Also, for those who missed season 1, the episode opens with a quick recap sung by Shelley (Kate Micucci), who runs the day care for old people, dogs, and babies.
