RUSH HOUR 2 (Comcast Movies: All Movies) The second teaming of Jackie Chan’s sunny acrobatics and Chris Tucker’s motormouth routines plays better than the first, as they pursue counterfeiters from Hong Kong to Las Vegas with greater-than-ever degrees of confidence and give-and-take. It’s as if they needed to get a film under their belts to discover what they had. Another plus is clever references to “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,’’ including the casting of that film’s sensational Zhang Ziyi as a lethal heavy. (PG-13; runs through Dec. 31)

THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION (Comcast Movies: All Movies) One of the great character-driven prison movies, because it takes its time getting us to believe in the way victimized Tim Robbins and his friend-to-be Morgan Freeman prove that iron bars can’t confine brains and heart. Fine directing debut by Frank Darabont, who adapted from a Stephen King story. (R; runs through Dec. 31)

THE SHINING (Comcast Movies: All Movies) Jack Nicholson stars in what is not only a provocative terror film but also one of our most fascinating films. Director Stanley Kubrick deliberately pulls his dramatic punches and creates a tension even more palpable than if he had delivered them. (R; runs through Dec. 31)
