The Inbetweeners 9 and 9:30 p.m., BBC America

I’m fond of this British sitcom, which is getting a first run in the states this season. It’s like the movie “Superbad’’ set in a London suburb, as it captures late male adolescence in all its awkward and sex-obsessed chaos. With a great soundtrack, the show tracks four high school losers - most notably Simon Bird’s briefcase-carrying geek (pictured) - through adventures with booze, girls, teachers, and bullies.

The miniseries continues. Through genetics and genealogy, Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. is exploring the family histories of famous Americans. Tonight, he looks at the ancestral stories of Stephen Colbert and chef Mario Batali.
