Matthew Weiner’s period drama “Mad Men” returns to AMC on April 13 for its seventh and final season. We’ve been speculating for months following the bombshell finale of season six about where we’ll pick up with Don Draper and the folks at Sterling Cooper & Partners next month and it looks like we finally have some context clues.

Sort of.

The new teaser trailer features our cast at an airport in full swinging ‘60s fashion, casting important looks off into the distance while the rest of the world appears to move in slow-motion behind them. Of course, no one says anything, no specific storyline clues are dropped, and Don’s mug doesn’t make an appearance until the very last seconds — but this is “Mad Men,” where nothing is a coincidence (well, unless it is).

Keep in mind a simple star screen print T-shirt basically had a main character killed off as the incarnation of Sharon Tate last season — so let’s speculate, wildly!

First thing to note: Everyone is at the airport. Flight has been a longstanding theme on “Mad Men” and it seems that a good number of people are hot on this “Don Draper is really D.B. Cooper and is going to coolly hijack a plane before disappearing into oblivion” theory. However, it also could have a lot to do with the exiting and entering and drastic life changes the characters are going through post-season six. Plus, this concept that “everything is up in the air,” har har har. Remember, this is “Mad Men,” we’re talking about. Nothing is that literal.

As for the cast, here’s a quick rundown:

Megan Draper: Opens the trailer and arrives alone. She steps out a cab looking mildly hesitant in the teeniest-tiniest Pucci tunic I’ve ever seen and looks better than she has in any season before. As you may remember, she and Don had it out at the end of season six after he told her they won’t be moving to California after all. Looks like she had other plans — though we should note, the duo seemed pretty cozy in the other promo shot we’ve seen, so this could be some typical Weiner red herring nonsense.

Betty Francis: She’s just doing her thang — smoking, disapproving, big hair, don’t care, but most notably, she’s also alone. Betty and Don’s camp rendezvous was a relative low point for the two characters last season, but we were curious to see if the show’s frostiest matriarch would come back with vengeance.

Peter Campbell: Looking smug as hell. So, about the same.

Roger Sterling: See above.

Peggy Olson: Peggy, tell us more. Peggy turning into Don and working out of his former office at SC&P the end of six’s finale really alluded to the sense that she would be pulling out the big guns in this upcoming season. However, she just grabs her daisy-print suitcase off a baggage carousel and walks off wearing one of the ugliest looks of the trailer, complete with matching daisy pin.

And then there’s Don: Staring into the distance from the aircraft passenger stairs, looking as blank and empty as ever. (Again.) So, as usual, he gives us nothing.

But a few notable characters are missing from the clip: Where are Sally Draper and Joan Harris? (They are important.) Where’s Bert Cooper? (Meh.) Where are any of the firm’s writers? (Double meh.) Where is Ted Chaough?? (That I actually would like to know. Same for Bob Benson.)

“Mad Men” season seven premieres April 13 at 10 p.m. on AMC, when probably none of our questions will be answers and all of our speculations will be proven wrong.
