Broadchurch 10 p.m., BBC America

This eight-episode crime series has a few things in common with “The Killing,” except it’s set in the U.K. in a seaside community where it is often sunny. The darkness, alas, is inside a few of the citizens. A pair of very different homicide detectives – David Tennant’s Alec is brusque, Olivia Colman’s Ellie is emotional – work together to solve the murder of an 11-year-old boy. It’s an engaging murder mystery, with a particularly affecting performance by David Bradley as the newsstand owner.

M*A*S*H 8 p.m., TV Land

TV Land airs plenty of repeats of this great sitcom, but I’m singling out this episode because it was the first time the show aired without a laugh track.
