Early in his career, in 1987, Todd Haynes made “Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story,” a short film in which the late singer and other characters were portrayed by Barbie dolls. As Karen lost weight, her doll was scraped down. It was oddly powerful and filled with pathos. This new series gives us real couples-therapy sessions, but the clients’ voices have been put into the mouths of puppets. Why? I’m curious if the puppets are supposed to be funny and/or dramatic, or if they are just being used to hide the identities of the participants. Logo didn’t have review copies available.

Good thing it wasn’t a six-day, six-country, six-concert tour.
