Where does the event take place?
The event will take place in Copley Square in the Back Bay. For a map of Copley Square, click here.

When should I arrive?
The event begins Saturday at 11 A.M. and Sunday at 1 P.M. Space on the grass is first-come, first-serve. You can arrive as early as you like to find a spot. Space is limited in the area so we ask you be reasonable and avoid “spreading out.”

Do I need a ticket to attend?
The outdoor shows on Copley Square are free and open to the public. You are welcome to come and enjoy all of the performances or just for select performers.

What happens if it rains?
This event goes on rain or shine. If it rains, most outdoor performances will still be held on Copley Square. To learn more about any rain delays, please check our Twitter page at @BSAW_Tweets or our Facebook page for details.

Can I bring my own chair?
Yes. Low-to-the-ground, beach-type chairs are preferred. If you have a tall chair that will obstruct the view of other patrons, you may be directed to a designated Tall Chair Section.

Will there be food available onsite?
There will be food available for sale from select vendors in Copley Square. In addition, there are a number of great restaurants in the area. For more information on local establishments, visit the Back Bay Business Association website.

Can I bring my own food?
Yes, you are welcome to bring your own prepared food. Please note, cooking and alcoholic beverages are not permitted on Copley Square.

What else should I bring?
A blanket to sit on, sunscreen, water, sunglasses, a light sweater, mosquito repellent, and maybe a rain poncho if drizzle is forecasted.

How do I get there?
We strongly encourage attendees to take the MBTA. Copley Square is accessible via the Copley Square stop on the Green Line and Back Bay Station on the Orange Line. For more information, visit

If I can’t take the T, where should I park?
There are many parking facilities in and around Back Bay. For a full list of parking garages, please click here. Please note, City of Boston parking meters are active until 8:00 P.M. Monday – Saturday.

Where can I stay?
There are a number of great hotels within walking distance. We recommend the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel or The Westin Copley Place Boston. You can also visit the Greater Boston Convention and Visitor's Bureau at for more information.

Will there be restrooms onsite?
Yes, there will be portable public restrooms for use on site.

Is the event handicapped accessible?

Is there an accessible area set aside for wheelchairs?
Yes. The handicapped area is located behind VIP seating on the grass. Each wheelchair attendee can be accompanied in this section by one guest. For directions to the accessible area, please ask a staff person or security personnel.

We encourage spectators to recycle. Recycling bins will be located next to trash receptacles scattered throughout the event.

Lost and found
If you lose something while at the festival, please check with Lost and Found, located at each of the two Information Booths onsite.

Will credit cards be accepted for merchandise?
No. The booths are set up to accept cash only for all onsite purchases.

Are there ATMs available if I run low on cash?
There is a Citizens Bank ATM located across the street from the park.

Will there be increased safety measures this year?
We are committed to creating a safe and secure environment. To ensure this, there will be onsite security and safety provided by local police and private security companies. We ask that you be vigilant of your surroundings and contact security personnel immediately if you see something of concern.

Are bags allowed onsite?
We ask that you to limit your bags and coolers to a size no larger than a personal tote bag. Small blankets and beach towels will be permitted. All bags will be subject to a discretionary search.

Will there be medical personnel onsite?
No. In the case of an emergency, please contact the nearest staff person or security person or visit the information booth.

What do I do to report or find a missing child?
Immediately report any missing children to the nearest staff person, security or police officer or to one of the two information booths.

Can I bike to the park?
You may bike to the park. However, park regulations prohibit the use of bikes, scooters, roller skates, skateboards or the like on park grounds.

May I bring my dog to the Festival?
Yes. However all dogs must remain on a leash at all times.

Can I play ball or Frisbee onsite?
No. Due to park regulations, playing ball or other game or sport is not allowed.
