6. New tax credits bring more moviemaking
Was that Kate Hudson at Sonsie? Tom Cruise on the Esplanade? Hello, Hollywood. After years of losing movie productions to Canada, North Carolina, and other states, state lawmakers in 2006 instituted a 25 percent tax credit to encourage more filmmakers to make movies in Boston. And they have, bringing in dollars and stars. So yes, that probably was Brian Dennehy ordering a large regular at Dunkin.
