In my alternative life, I've been traveling the country to show off our film, "Do It Again." Usually, I'm too busy to actually see anything else playing in a festival but today, at the Nashville Film Festival, I was able to check out a shorts program. Turns out, I got lucky, as I stumbled into "She Got Problems," written, directed and starring Alison McDonald, the younger sister of sometime Boston Pops collaborator Audra McDonald

Many shorts are self-contained works meant to be, well, shorts. McDonald's is clearly a trailer for a feature length movie, a mockumentary musical about a young, black woman's struggles to find Mr. Somebody, Anybody. The clip I saw included a couple of McDonald's dynamic mini-monologues, a slightly-twisted song-and-dance in the Busby Berkeley spirit and cough syrup. In other words, I want to see more.
