News, and notes
I don't want to make this blog all-Madoff, all-the-time, but a point... I called the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Museum of Fine Arts, and Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum to check on whether those institutions had invested in Madoff funds. Nope. And this story might explain why. Basically, as soon as any of these organizations would have begun going through due process with Fast Bernie, the deal would have collapsed. Transparency was apparently not Madoff's m.o.
The Institute of Contemporary Art certainly has had some good timing in recent months. First, Tara Donovan wins one of those Genius grants just before her show opens. Now, we see the explosion of Shepard Fairey. That's the street artist's Obama image on the cover of Time Magazine. He's already been on CBS and been named one of GQ's Men of the Year.
My favorite blog of now has to be Diarrhea Island, courtesy of Seattle-ish Marianne. Strong voice. Great sense of humor. Some profanity. And a clear Ray Davies admiration.
