"At our last Full Staff Meeting, we discussed the heightened financial challenges facing the BSO as a result of the global economic crisis and indicated that we would be forming a group of staff members to work together on developing more cost effective ways of conducting our operations going forward.
Accordingly, I would like to announce the appointment of the following members to the Operating Budget Review Group, which will be coordinated by Sarah Harrington, Director of Budgeting and Planning, with the assistance of Mimi Do, Budget Manager:

The Group had its initial meeting today and will reconvene after the first of the year to begin the important work of developing new approaches to help the BSO reduce its cost of operations and enhance net revenues. We encourage all staff members to provide the Group with any suggestions or ideas you may have in support of these efforts.
In view of the current financial situation, we have implemented a staff hiring freeze until further notice. No open positions or new vacancies will be filled unless approved as an exception by the Managing Director. As you continue work on the FY2009 forecast and the first draft budget for FY2010, I ask that you look for all possible ways to cut expenses and maximize revenue as you finalize these projections.
Needless to say, the current economic climate will necessitate a close examination of all areas of our operations and I look forward to all BSO staff working collaboratively to respond to the financial challenges we face."
