Kermit the Frog was created by Jim Henson from his mother’s coat and ping-pong balls (hopefully, Mom gave permission to use the coat). Don’t miss the exhibit “Jim Henson’s Fantastic World,’’ and don’t miss Sunday’s special events when Jane Henson speaks and the Cosmic Bicycle Theatre performs. Henson’s widow and cocreator of the Muppets will present “Look Both Ways & Go,’’ a behind-the-scenes look at the pair’s iconic creations. Cosmic Bicycle Theatre will perform “The ClockWorks, the Universe, and Everything: An Hour of Puppets and Song.’’ June 20, 12:30-1:30 p.m. (performance), 2:30-4 p.m. (talk), noon-4:30 p.m. (exhibit; closes June 27). Free (advance tickets required for 12:30 p.m. performance). The National Heritage Museum, 33 Marrett Road, Lexington. 781-861-6559. www.nationalheritagemuseum.org
