Kim Bernard, 44
Sculptor, performance and video artist, Massachusetts College of Art and Design
Bernard was already an established painter who danced and practiced yoga and martial arts, so she decided to make movement part of her work. In her thesis show, she’ll bounce for a performance on shoes made of springs. Suspended in a swinging truss she calls “Body Pendulum,’’ she’ll create a document of her trajectory with spray paint. She plans to jump from a plane and record her descent with a video camera strapped to her body. “The common denominator is the combination of fear and amazement,’’ she says.
Coming up: A September exhibition at Arden Gallery and a December show at Flinn Gallery in Greenwich, Conn. Information: www.kbernard.com
