Play on Bush cabinet adds line about Rumsfeld's departure

The Zeitgeist Stage Company production of Sir David Hare's play about George Bush, Tony Blair, and the build-up to the war in Iraq will be one line longer starting tomorrow night.

The company has extended its run of "Stuff Happens" at the Boston Center for the Arts’ Plaza Black Box theater through Dec. 2. And after today's events in Washington, Zeitgeist artistic director David Miller wrote to Hare, asking if he could add the following after Donald Rumsfeld’s last line in the play: "On November 8, 2006, Donald Rumsfeld resigned as Secretary of Defense."

The playwright responded in a pithy e-mail: "Yes, fine, add it, it will cheer everyone up."
