TV Jersey Shore Portraits.jpgWe just did a double-take here at Culture Desk. An item just came across the transom that says "Jersey Shore" star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi is working on a book. Naturally, when we read that, we assumed she's "working on a book" in a sense that we're "working on" the new Jonathan Franzen novel. But no. Snooki, who pleaded guilty this month to a charge of annoying people at the beach, is writing a book. Gallery Books -- the publisher of such literary tomes as "Drinking With George," by "Cheers" actor George Wendt, and "The Naked Truth," by "Real Housewives" star Danielle Staub -- announced today that Snooki is finishing up a novel called "Shore Thing," and that it'll be out in January. Gallery, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, said the story will be chock full of "big hair, dark tans, and fights galore." You know what they say: Write what you know!

About the blog

"Media Remix" is where couch potatoes meet pop culture criticism. What does Honey Boo Boo say about class issues in America ? Is The Real Housewives anti-feminist? Does Lady Gaga empower gay fans, or patronize them? And where'd I put the remote control? If you love knowing about the latest in movies, TV, music and social media - and analyzing the politics of The Apprentice - grab a seat with "Media Remix."
