Everything old is new again: Pixies, Nirvana and The Clash

Perhaps The Replacements playing their first gig in 22 years was an inspiration? In any event, another modern rock icon has broken the 22-year-drought: Pixies released their first new material in over two decades today. EP-1 has four songs; listen to "Indie Cindy" below.

Nirvana made no secret of worshiping at the altar of the Pixies. Read up on the 20th anniversary reissue of In Utero, which features the director's cut of the trio's famously weird (and that's saying something, considering it's a Nirvana video) clip for "Heart Shaped Box."

The reissue is out on September 24th. Also out this month--on the 9th--is the highly-anticipated Clash boxed set Sound System. Here's a clip of "White Riot" we found over at The A.V. Club.

Steph Mangan hosts Grrl Power and LocalBDC. When she's not at the studio, she is constantly on the look out for up-and-coming local bands and attending shows at Boston's many venues. She is an avid enthusiast of burritos and denim jackets.
