Black Rebel Motorcycle Club grew out of a Bay Area high school friendship between Robert Levon Been and Peter Hayes. Hayes had just left the seminal California band The Brian Jonestown Massacre; fans of that band (like our own Adam 12) note some sonic similarities between BJM & early BRMC.

Been and Hayes have formed the nucleus of the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club since forming in 1998, and we can't wait to have them perform Live in the Lab on Friday, May 3 at 2:30. (Want to see it live? Enter here!)

Check them out recently on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno:

Their new album 'Spectre At The Feast' is masterful and features a cover of The Call's 1989 hit "Let The Day Begin."

Fun fact: Robert Levon Been's dad? That would be The Call's frontman Michael Been. Pretty cool tribute to your dad, Robert.
