Police have tentatively identified a body found near Interstate 93 yesterday morning as a 43-year-old Roxbury man, Boston Globe deputy metro editor Mike Bello told RadioBDC listeners this morning. A preliminary investigation indicated was that the man's death was a homicide, but authorities are awaiting the results of an autopsy, Bello said.

Police considered the possibility yesterday that the man was homeless, but after investigating, he seems to have had no connection to the nearby Pine Street Inn. State police say an identity could be released later today.

Bello also discussed Boston City Councilor John Connolly's announcement that he would run for mayor in the city's upcoming election, saying the 39-year-old had distinguished himself on the city council by speaking out for education reform.
