Dropkick Murphys to play Live in the Lab Thursday, December 6 at 12:30 p.m.

Posted by Chris Rattey November 29, 2012 04:36 PM

dropkicks_album.jpgHuge news here at RadioBDC, as Dropkick Murphys will play Live in the Lab next Thursday at 12:30 p.m. The Boston celtic punk and hardcore staple will play a set to a small crowd at the Globe Media Lab, and beginning Monday you can win your way in by listening to RadioBDC and by visiting our web site. So stay tuned for ways to win, but as always, you will be able to watch it all live at Bookmark that page for all of our Live in the Lab performances.

The Dropkick Murphys are getting set to release their eighth studio album, "Signed and Sealed in Blood" (pre-order here) in early January. At that time, the band will kick off a worldwide tour in Dublin that will wind its way to Boston on and around ... you guessed it ... St. Patrick's Day. RadioBDC is already giving tickets away to the TD Garden Show on our Get Stuff page.

But before all that happens, Dropkick Murphys will swing by our Morrissey Boulevard set for a one-of-a-kind live experience brought to you by Killians Irish Red. Listen in for ways to win, or join us live online that day. Until then, let us rock. And we also dusted off an old (from 2005 ... so like 50 years old in internet age) audio slideshow from the attic. This is a little behind-the-scenes, history of Dropkick Murphys courtesy of Ken Casey after the band released The Warrior's Code. Enjoy.

Audio slideshow from 2005. Open up and click the play button.

Kodaline are a four-piece band from Dublin, anchored by two childhood friends who have made music together since they were eight-year-olds in their school choir.

Maybe you've heard this song, as it was featured on 'Grey's Anatomy.' We'd be willing to bet you've not seen the video, though. Take a moment to watch. It's quite powerful.

Street Dogs Wreck the Halls, Liven Up the Lab

Posted by Adam 12 November 26, 2012 03:47 PM

Boston punk legends Street Dogs continue their "Wreck The Halls" holiday tradition with back-to-back shows at the Paradise. Click here 411 on the Friday, December 21st show, or here for the skinny on the Saturday, December 22nd performance.

Frontman (and former Boston Globe employee!) Mike McColgan, born & raised in Dorchester, started his punk rock career as a founding member and lead singer of the Dropkick Murphys. He left the Murphys in 1998 to become a firefighter for the Boston Fire Department, but felt music calling to him, so in 2002 he founded Street Dogs. He took a leave of absence from the BFD in 2004 and has been devoting his time to Street Dogs ever since.

Adam 12, being the fanboy that he is, begged Mike to bring the boys by for a Live in the Lab performance. Mike, being the stand-up guy that he is, was more than happy to oblige. So stay tuned to win your way into Street Dogs, Live in the Lab on Thursday, December 20th!

The Festival of Trees

Posted by Alaina Riccardi November 23, 2012 11:33 AM

The Festival of Trees marks the official start to the Holiday season. Its a magical event annually held by the Festival of Trees Inc., a nonprofit organization in the Merrimack Valley.

Companies and families donate a tree, dress it in over the top decorations, and pack it with presents. Hundreds of trees are lined up and bid on during a two week period.

We thought why not get involved in a good festive cause? A RadioBDC tree has a nice ring to it right?Tree 4.JPG

Although we love our tree (and hope it gets lots of bids) we couldn't help but stroll through the rows of trees and snap some pics of our favorites.
Tree 3.JPG
Lego mania! Wonder how long it took to make that helicopter?! That takes skill.

Tree 2.JPG
Okay, this may be as girly as it gets but a LIPGLOSS tree?! May or may not have put 20 ticket bids in for this one.

Tree 5.JPG
Wine and Holiday celebrations go hand in hand. This tree was gorgeous, and the tree skirt made of wine corks was breathtaking...wonder how many bottles it took?!

The festival is going on until Saturday, December 1st so you still have time to come by and bid on the RadioBDC tree. Good Luck!

The Gaslight Anthem Live in the Lab

Posted by Adam 12 November 20, 2012 02:21 PM

Not to brag, but this is kind of a big deal. We hoodwinked The Gaslight Anthem into stopping by the Globe Media Lab before their big rock n' roll show on Monday the 26th at the House of Blues. It'll probably look and sound something like this, except just a bit quieter. And without the David Letterman intro.

Their latest work with the victims of Sandy has caught the attention of The Rolling Stone and Mark Cuban. Cuban sent out this tweet to his 1.3 million followers on Nov. 20:…. Great job by Gaslight Anthem supporting Sandy victims

Check out a music video, then come back on Monday ... official time TBD, but most likely around 2:30 to 3 p.m.

Want to join us Live in the Lab with The Gaslight Anthem? Just click here.
