It's the elephant in the room at the annual Rock 'n' Roll Rumble — "The Rumble Curse" — and much like the Sports Illustrated jinx that supposedly brings bad luck to athletes featured on the cover, the Curse spells bad karma for the winners. "The Curse is: Win the Rumble and fall into obscurity," says former WBCN DJ Shred, who spearheaded the competition for years. "But it's a myth, obviously, because there are many examples of bands that have gone on to greatness, like 'Til Tuesday [in 1983], who got signed."
Actually, if there is a Curse, it might be this: Bands who lose often end up having greater success than their winning counterparts.
