After a decade of intermittent solo gigs and sporadic albums Evan Dando is reforming the Lemonheads.
According to a press release from his publicist the Dando will be dropping a new disc on Vagrant Records with fresh Lemonheads -- drummer Bill Stevenson (Descendents, Black Flag) and bassist Karl Alvarez (Descendents)-- on September 26. Friends who dropped by to lend a hand include Garth Hudson of the Band and J. Mascis of Dinosaur, Jr. With this mix of rootsy types and noiseniks it sounds like it's going to be a very interesting record.
Dando's own website and the band's newly minted Myspace page are both under construction at the moment so there's not much other info to be had, but the release does say the trio plans to tour the U.S. in the fall. Curiously, the recording group is not the same as the current touring line-up which includes Josh Lattanzi on bass and John Kent on drums. Whoever's playing, we'll take it.
