Remember Everclear? You know the "Santa Monica"-"I Will Buy You A New Life" guys? You know the rock trio whose show at the Paradise involving crowd-surfing New England Patriots ended in tears and litigation some years back?
Right well those guys are back with a new song called "Hater." The song itself-- a break-up rant-- is pretty standard issue Everclear: a kinda catchy, kinda angry yet still laid back guitar rocker that sounds reminiscent of their other kinda catchy, kinda angry yet still laid back guitar rockers. But the video, which you can check out here features a barrage of footage of "celebrity couples" who have parted ways and it's so timely it even features Dave and Carmen and Christie Brinkley and that skeevy guy who hits on 19-year-olds that she recently separated from.
There are also some oddly amusing choices-- Phil Collins? David Hasselhoff?-- that make you wonder what the roundtable discussion of who to include/exclude sounded like.
The band's new album, "Welcome to the Drama Club," is out September 12 and they play Leno tomorrow night.
