BUDAPEST, Hungary—Hungary's media watchdog says a small radio station did not break the law by broadcasting explicit songs by rapper Ice-T.
Media Council spokeswoman Karola Kiricsi said Monday the council has dropped its probe of Tilos ("Forbidden") Radio. The investigation into whether the station caused harm to minors by playing "Warning" and "It's On" was begun last September after a listener's complaint.
The station argued it had very few young listeners who could have understood the English-language lyrics. The council did not explain its decision.
The case drew wide media attention, coming to light just as Hungary took over the rotating presidency of the EU on Jan. 1.
Ice-T had welcomed the investigation, posting "I love it! The world still fears me. hahaha!" on Twitter.
