Musical wandering
- |
The Alea III contemporary music ensemble gets the first part of its name from the Greek word alea, which means "to wander." In Latin, it refers to "a die or dice used for playing at games of chance." The III refers to this third group organized by music director Theodore Antoniou. The ensemble is in residence at Boston University, and tonight's ALEA III Young Composers' Workshop highlights new works written for Alea III by young, international composers. The program includes "Kaleidoscope" by Mary Montgomery Koppel from the United States and "River" by Ilias Nikolaidis from Greece. 8 p.m. Free. BU's Tsai Performance Center, 685 Commonwealth Ave., Boston. 617-353-3340. www.aleaiii.com JUNE WULFF
