"Footloose"Review of the original: "'Footloose' no 'Flashdance'"
Feb. 18, 1984, by Jay Carr
Frankly, the liveliest part of the film is the colorful series of dancing feet against which the titles unreel. But Kevin Bacon, as the frustrated Chicagoan, projects the same feisty appeal he did as the angry kid in "Diner," and he's a snappy dancer. One wishes that "Footloose" would give us more dancing and less preaching by John Lithgow.
