It's taken 84-year-old Hal Holbrook his entire career for some kid to call him "Holmes," but now it's happened. Holbrook is mighty in this pretty, if otherwise unremarkable family drama. He plays Abner Meacham, a former farmer, who one afternoon walks out of his nursing home to take back the Southern farm his son intends to sell (yes, it's that movie). Look out for much healing and more bonding with grandkids. Still, whether he's railing against ignorant youngsters, futzing around the barn, or simply standing on a porch looking off yonder, Holbrook compels you to watch him.
