Looking for an excuse to dress up as Captain America? Fans excited for the upcoming movie "The Avengers" will flood the AMC Loews Boston Common 19 and other theaters around the country on Thursday, May 3, ahead of the film's release for a lineup of all the Marvel Comics films that tie into the upcoming film's storyline.

The films being shown are, in order, "Iron Man," "The Incredible Hulk," "Iron Man 2," "Thor in 3D," "Captain America in 3D," and finally, "The Avengers in 3D." The new superhero flick, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Sudbury native Chris Evans as Captain America, and more, will premiere at midnight (Friday, May 4).

Tickets went on sale March 11 and are already sold out at Boston Common and Liberty Tree Mall 20 in Danvers, but as of this posting, tickets are still available at AMC Framingham 16 for $40. Interest in the forthcoming film is high, with one report stating that ticket pre-sales for "The Avengers" outnumber pre-sales for all the previous Marvel films combined. Other nearby theaters hosting the event include two cinemas in Connecticut: Danbury 16 and Plainville 20. The complete list can be found here.
