Local company Walden Media, run by Arlington natives and brothers Chip and Micheal Flaherty, has made it big in the movies with films like the “Chronicles of Narnia” series. They have also successfully branched out into publishing, with one of their titles winning the Newbery Medal. Walden is now establishing a foothold in television with a new series called Walden Family Theatre-- in partnership with Wal-Mart and Proctor & Gamble-- on the Hallmark Channel programming inspirational family films, often based on award-winning literature, like “The Watsons Go To Birmingham,” which premieres on Hallmark Friday at 8 p.m. We chatted with the brothers in their Burlington office about their mission to bring back family viewing time in a world of individual screens.
