We’re the Millers
For a movie about a group of drug smugglers pretending to be an all-American clan, “We’re the Millers” hogs the middle of the road like the big, farty RV at its center. It’s an August dog-day special: A few easy laughs, one or two flashes of inspiration, and enough sentimentality to ensure that no one actually gets hurt.
Jason Sudeikis plays a Denver-based pot dealer who hires a fake family to get his weed across the border from Mexico: Stripper “wife” (Jennifer Aniston), geeky “son” (Will Poulter), and teen runaway “daughter” (Emma Roberts). The casting alone tells you how edge-free the movie is. Poulter, Nick Offerman, and Kathryn Hahn are the wild cards here; otherwise “We’re the Millers” is a limper, less funny version of its own trailer.
