ABIGAIL’S 291 3d St., Cambridge

The restaurant openings continue in Kendall Square, which becomes a better place to eat with each one. The latest to arrive is Abigail’s, a neighborhood spot serving dinner nightly and lunch on weekdays. Owned by chef James Ludwig (B-Side, East Coast Grill) and general manager Sarah Murnane, the restaurant is named for their daughter.

The menu offers raw bar; small plates such as gouda fries, roasted marrow bones, and BBQ chicken livers; soups and salads; sandwiches such as barbecue pork and grilled chicken; and entrees including yellowfin tuna with sweet corn sauce and heirloom tomato panzanella salad and a boneless rib eye with marrow butter. The dishes feature local and sustainable ingredients.

Coming soon: a Sunday barbecue brunch. Chef de cuisine Jason Lord also spent time at East Coast Grill, so the kitchen knows from brisket and eggs, pulled pork hash, and burnt ends breakfast sandwiches, some of the items we can expect to see.

Craft cocktails are another focus with Rob Iurilli (B-Side) in charge of the bar. A watermelon smash slushie might be just the thing while it’s still summer; a Lenny (PBR tallboy with a shot of bourbon) is suitable for any season.
