Funny guy Seth Rogen took on a serious topic before a Senate committee on Wednesday. The 31-year-old "Knocked Up" star opened up about his wife Lauren Miller's mother's early-in-life Alzheimer's disease diagnosis and his family's personal battle with the experience.

"After forgetting who she and her loved ones were, my mother-in-law, a teacher for 35 years, then forgot how to speak, feed herself, dress herself, and go to the bathroom herself, all by the age of 60," Rogen revealed. "Lauren's father and a team of caregivers dedicate their lives to letting my mother-in-law be as comfortable as she can be. They would love to do more, but can't because as you've heard, unlike any of the other top 10 causes of death in America, there is no way to prevent, cure, or even slow the progression of Alzheimer's disease."

Rogen said he was speaking out to spread hope and dispel the seemingly "shameful stigma" that surrounds the disease, comparing the diagnosis in Hollywood to cancer years ago. He introduced "Hilarity for Charity," an education campaign and fundraising foundation he and Miller created to raise awareness for the disease among a younger generation.

"Americans whisper the words Alzehimer's," said Rogen. "It's needs to be yelled and screamed."
