Today was a big day for the royals.
Prince George was baptized at 3 p.m. London time (10 a.m. our time) at the Chapel Royal in St. James's Palace.
The 3-month-old prince wore a handmade replica of the royal christening robe, reports People.com. The special garment was made by Angela Kelly, dressmaker to the Queen. During the summer, we asked designers with Boston ties to show us their visions or what the royal baby should wear when presented to the world. Will there be any similarities? We shall see.
As for the royal baby's godparents, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge chose seven people to do the honors, reports the Associated Press:
-- Zara Phillips, Prince William's cousin (and the only royal among the seven)
-- Oliver Baker, a college friend of the couple
-- Emilia Jardine-Paterson, who attended Marlborough College school with Kate
-- Earl "Hugh" Grosvenor, the son of the Duke of Westminster
-- Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, former private secretary to the couple
-- Julia Samuel, a close friend of the late Princess Diana, William's mother
-- William van Cutsem, William's childhood friend
Wondering what baptism gift is worthy of a future king? While many babies receive flowers for their baptism, Prince George will receive a Romanian meadow.
