Savannah Guthrie interviewed Jimmy Fallon for the "Today" show recently, and the sit-down is scheduled to air next week, but a preview revealed some surprising news this morning: he and wife Nancy Juvonen used a surrogate to bring daughter Winnie Rose into the world last month.
"My wife and I had been trying a while to have a baby," Fallon said to Guthrie while on the set of "Late Night" for the interview. "We tried a bunch of things – so we had a surrogate."
He and Juvonen kept the news that they were expecting to themselves, thinking it would be fun to surprise friends and close coworkers when the child was born on July 23.
"It wasn't really a secret, but my wife and I have been trying for a while to have a baby and so we've tried a bunch of things. So we had a surrogate. This time we said we're not telling anybody. It'd be just more fun if it were private between me and my wife and then we get to introduce her to everybody. When it happened we were shocked, like 'Who do we tell?' 'Who's going to be mad at us if this gets out?'"
