Dr. Drew Pinsky, seen here at the 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on June 16, said he is "actually confused" by CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta's shift in opinion on medical marijuana.

Former "Celebrity Rehab" star Dr. Drew Pinsky said he is not yet ready to support Dr. Sanjay Gupta's professional opinion of medical marijuana during a live chat today on

After Gupta, the CNN chief medical correspondent and onetime US surgeon general candidate, penned a post yesterday for entitled "Why I changed my mind on weed," admitting that he was "too dismissive of the loud chorus of legitimate patients whose symptoms improved on cannabis," Pinsky said he was "actually confused by his opinion," adding, "I think I agree but I want to talk with him about it."

Chatting with readers ahead of his "Loveline" reunion tour with co-host Adam Carolla, which stops at Boston's Wilbur Theatre on Aug. 24, Pinsky took questions ranging from his work on programs like "Celebrity Rehab" to offering advice on addiction-related concerns (read the full transcript here).

In response to another question about whether he'd support the legalization of marijuana, Pinsky replied, "I am really neutral on the issue. I am very interested to see how things play out in Colorado and Oregon. I am fearful of a Big Cannabis that will rival Big Tobacco." However, similar to Gupta's admission that medical marijuana can help certain patients, Pinsky added, "Any chemical can be either good or bad depending on the circumstance of the use and relationship with the drug. Morphine [is] good if you have cancer, bad if you are a heroin addict."
